With A Conversion Lens (18) wieyos
(8970) | Hi Folks,
For this shot I was experimenting with a reversed lens technique, i.e a 1:2.8 100mm macro lens mounted on the camera body reversely attached to a 50mm fixed lens, (both lenses are facing each other front-to-front. See WS2)
The distance between the subject and the lens was extremely close, about 1 cm and it caused the extended lens to almost hinder available light. However, the proximity gave a fairly good focusing on the selected minute area and a cropping on the image is almost unnecessary.
For this posting, I was using a conversion lens (see WS1) attached to the macro lens.
The working distance is closer than without a conversion, about 10cm from the subject, (about 15cm without a conversion lens) but not as close as using the previous technique.
And this is the outcome, after a cropping, and I have to be satisfied with the detail of my thumb's skin tissue (on the left) being torn by this ferocious red weaver ant.
Given a good and clean fixed lens (mine was dirty and contaminated with fungus) attached to the macro lens, I’d say that a reversed lens technique gives a better and more stunning result with more details on the minute areas are well seen and better captured.
Thanking you in advance for viewing and your kind words. |
