The Clydesdales of AB (10) rlrad
(830) | This was taken at the place where they raise the (ex)Anheuser-Busch Clydesdale horses. Now that AB has merged with InBev (ok, I have to admit I do like that Stella Beer), I'm not sure what they will call these animals when marching in parades and such. Probably the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales like they always have, why change something that has worked for 100 years?
Anyway, this is the farm where many of the horses are bred. It is close to Grant's Farm, the home of Ulysses S. Grant, also owned by AB-Inbev. Some days you can drive by and see a dozen or so Clydesdale horses frolicking in the fields. Across the street at Grant's Farm you might see a herd of buffalo or a zebra next to Gravois Rd., a main suburban thoroughfare. I prefer the horses, I like to drive by there when I can, hoping to have a fog and the horses near the fence on a day when I have my camera. Maybe it's a cliche shot, maybe not. I have it all framed in my mind already.
This day there were several young horses in the field, but they were staying fairly far away. I found a nice illegal parking spot where I thought delivery vans might not scrape my car and shot a few pictures. This was one of my favorites - these two horses looked really close to each other, they were grooming each other and actually looked rather romantically involved, if that can be said about horses.
This was shot on an early spring day, with a fairly overcast sky. If it had been sunny I probably would have driven right on by, but I thought this might be an opportunity - and it was!
Hope you horse (and beer) lovers like it! |
