This photo was taken with my first 35mm camera which was handed down to me from my mom. It was a Mamiya-Sekor and it weighed about 20 lbs. (you think I am kidding). But it took wonderful photos.

This is at a camp I used to attend throughout my childhood, and now I take my children each Summer. This photo was taken during "free time" which most people used to play sports, but my friend chose to "multi-task: reading and getting a tan" (her words).

I am leaving in a week to take my kids there and the girl in this photo—now a mother—is bringing her kids as well. I have asked her if we could stage this same shot almost 20 years later, so I hope to post the recent photo upon my return.

Here is the new version taken 20 years later.

And a different POV.

This was a 3.5 x 5" photo scanned in @ 1200 ppi.

Cropping
Edited by:Athila Gold Star Critiquer/Gold Star Workshop Editor/Gold Note Writer [C: 169 W: 135 N: 399] (1777)

I just cropped image differently to put the subject off center. I put subject on right side so we enter image from the left (I read from left to right)so I enter the image on the left side, travel true its surface to reach subject on the right. It's a classic rule, but not the only one. And I just added a small white border since you mention you scanned a printed picture and for a long time pictures had a white border.
