Twilight of their lives (12)

This photo was taken at sunset on our first day in Nuremburg. I liked this image because it evokes the twilight years in the lives of the couple with the warm light and their walking away from the camera.

I considered cropping out the windows but I liked the light on the wall. Don't beat me up too badly over not having the whole lantern in the shot, I could not use the preview screen as my battery recharger wasn't working so I had to conserve batteries!

Just a different way of looking at your picture. Most of the moody pictures seem to be in B/W or Sepia so I was trying to see how this picture would look. Also I understand the effect of the setting sun(on the lovely walls) would be diminished that way but I thought it was worth a try.

I rotated the picture a degree clockwise to get the corner parallel to the vertical, cropped out the resulting edges. Also cropped the lamp and left only the shadow.
Finally getting the grey scale was the biggest challenege ...so as to get the feel of moving from light into darkness without losing detail.
This is not an attempt at improvemnt but just looking at it differently. I hope you do not mind.
