I reposted it today as B&W, as Michael Weber and Pierre Richer suggested, and they were right. It does look better.

I thought the lines of this staircase in the Vatican Museum in Rome were interesting. I had to clone out a father pushing a baby carriage so that you can concentrate on the shapes.

Added contrast with slight increase of black level in levels in photoshop CS. Used luko's usm the first three steps(I don't have them handy right now ..you can do a search on TL for luko's USM mehtod) also to increse crispness of tones. Added frame and stroke.
