[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This particular photo was one of the biggest surprises I ever had. My objective with the original photo was to get a good image of the elephant's face and eye. When I downloaded the photos I was dispapointed because the image was very dark but when used layers to adjust brightness the baby suddenly appeared! It was hidden so much in the darker image that you could not see it! Now this image is one of my favourite favourites! I hope you will like it too. I am anxious to see what you think of it and all comments are very welcome!

The photo was taken from a game drive vehicle at the Chobe Game Park in Botswana. Almost while I was still focussing the guide had to reverse to get out of the way of the elephants that were about 10 metres from us. It was also taken in very, very bright sunlight.

The brightness was signifficantly increased on the baby elephant - I first selected only the face of the baby and then used curves to adjust levels and also used the burn tool on parts of the mother elephant's face and the tusk to make some parts less bright - I also used a saturation brush only on the baby elephant's face.

Hi Wia,
This is just a fantastic picture, I love elephants but this is just so special with the little bady tucked up under his mum. You have done a fantastic job on beinging up the brightness.
I also like the mother elephants face, she has some lovely features, and great eyelashes.

The accidental composition is brilliant showing the gentle side of a big animal. You did well to expose the baby from a dark original. TFS. K2
