[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A desert is a landscape or region that receives almost no precipitation. Deserts are defined as areas with an average annual precipitation of less than 250 millimetres (10 in) per year,or as areas where more water is lost by evapotranspiration than falls as precipitation. In the Köppen climate classification system, deserts are classed as BWh (hot desert) or BWk (temperate desert). In the Thornthwaite climate classification system, deserts would be classified as arid megathermal climates

English desert and its Romance cognates (including Italian and Portuguese deserto, French désert and Spanish desierto) all come from the ecclesiastical Latin dēsertum (originally "an abandoned place"), a participle of dēserere, "to abandon." (See desertion.) The correlation between aridity and sparse population is complex and dynamic, varying by culture, era, and technologies; thus the use of the word desert can cause confusion. In English prior to the 20th century, desert was often used in the sense of "unpopulated area", without specific reference to aridity; but today the word is most often used in its climate-science sense (an area of low precipitation)—and a desert may be quite heavily populated, with millions of inhabitants. Phrases such as "desert island" and "Great American Desert" in previous centuries did not necessarily imply sand or aridity; their focus was the sparse population. However, the connotation of a hot, parched, and sandy place often influences today's popular interpretation of those phrases.

O seara foarte calduroasa,

Bonsoir Horia

Hello Horia,

Interesting photo and note, the desert depicted looks like it may be the temperate desert with those green plants. The sky was certainly bright and the landscape sandy and deserted. Foreboding, actually. Kind of makes me thirsty - now I need a beer!

Have a great day,

Hello Horia, an excellent composition with the palms well placed with the plain sand behind them.
Lots of interesting colours and textures.
I am surprised by the colour of the sky.
Tfs, regards Jean.

Hi,you caught the desert beauty well. This shot has fine natural colors and the composition is excellent.Greetings Otto.

Now back to Morroco and its wonderful desert Horia , sometimes i wonder how these palms can grow so close to the sand , got to be water under somewhere obviously , i like the shot not so much because of the sky though ,the view is , i have had a kind of love affair with this kind of 'sandscape' for a long time , after desert there is ....the sea , the mountains but there is nothing more absorbing photographically than desert vistas in my view , thanks for the note and sharing my friend,

Hello Horia,
There can to look such landscape with unusual form of dunes, plants and colours but I prefer our landscape with abundant vegetation. I think that here is too poor light and colours aren't enough alive and sky is almost white but FG with colourful stones is very attractive.
Regards, Pawel

Hi Horia - Amazingly deceptive shot. Everything looks miniature from the perspective. Very interesting.

That's for sure amazing, Horia, live can grow up at such a meager and unreal place, fantastic.
A beautiful shot, thanks

Bonjour Horia

A well capture desert shot, with rare amount of vegetation in the foreground.Good depth and exposure. I like the tonal variations, well done and TFS.

Ciao Horia,

The small oasis, portrayed by plants and sand
I think that the water still scarce around here!

dear Horia,
green plants in sand and rocks of the desert look strange,
of course, partial water makes those live in the dry area,
anyway, a romantic view in dead land, so the desert is not dead,
thank you for your wonderful shot,

Hi Horia!
Very beautiful image!
Excellent POV and DOF. Splendid natural colours.
Ciao! Vanda

Buna Horia! Ciao Horia,

beautiful image of the Moroccan desert, very framed and with beautiful colors. A point of reference lacks only for the dimensions: the palms are high 1 or 12 meters?

Thanks for sharing
