A shot taken on my latest outing, a few days in Zanzibar (somewhere I've always wanted to visit - and it really is worth the trip). This is a simple canoe - a hollowed and shaped tree trunk, with simple outriggers for stability, a fold down mast for a small sail and room for fishing gear.. They paddle, or sail, out past the reef to fish for all kinds of tasty things!

Very intense sunlight in this part of the world with the clear skies, so a circular polariser is a must-use.

EXIF - 1/60sec, f10, ISO100, +0.3EV and 13mm

This is GRAND David! Now this is ONE instance where a tilted horizon is not bothersome! The extreme wide angle is more interesting with a slight tilt. Caledonia does it all the time with great results! LOVE the clouds in this! Super nice work! Beautiful place!

Hi David,
Excellent, superb sharp and the clearity is awesome. The horizon isn't level yhough but for some reason not really annoying. Great posting!

Hi David,
Fantastic and amazing picture with a wanderful seacape, beautiful picture nicely composed and presented with great colors and sharpness, Excellent POV. and lovely details, nice sky and boat , ...
Excellent done.

Wow, amazing depth in this photo. Wonderfully composed, I like the wide angle you've used. It makes me want to visit here too! I'm not sure I agree with the horizon being on an angle...I'd prefer it level. But then I'm a bit of a perfectionist =P. All in all, an excellent photo!!

Thanks for sharing,

Hello David
It looks like that sea is going on forever and ever.
Very good sharpness and colours, and that water is so clear to see through - it looks clean! Great to see

This is beautiful David....
Very sharp and very good angle. The cloud sure adds extra interest.
The tilted horizon is quite disturbing but of course that can be remedied.
Overall, it's fantastic!

Hello David.
Perfect and beautiful colours all over in this good composed picture.
Feel sorry that I have to say, the horizon is not in level.
First thing to look at when water is as horizon.
ps. doubt if many will notice it.
I just readed the other comments. See, that it was mentioned a few times too. (some with 'excusses', haha)

Hello David,

A great composition!
The boat, with its interesting shape and shadows, is perfectly placed in frame.

The clouds are to die for, as a photographer!

There is a slight tilt to the horizon, but it is not a great distraction.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Wow, this is so captivating. It's great to see the sea go on forever with no obstructions, the canoe is perfectly situated in the shot, the clouds are interesting, and .. you've already clubbed yourself about the horizon:)
Beautiful spot. Did you take the canoe for a spin?

Hi David,

Awesome depth of field, the mid-aperture on that lens does the trick, doesn't it? I have one, too. I love the colors and composition. What a great trip to take - you are very fortunate to be able to enjoy that place!

Hi David

The outrigger canoe is well placed in the left of frame with plenty of breathing space at right for it to 'move' into. Good color contrast between the yellow green water, & blue sky, with excellent sharpness. Tfs!

Simple and poweful. Good composition. Excellent depth.

Hello David
I love this image, his clarity the soft vivid colours and the composition.
Wonderful photo.
Bestregards, mb

I love the simplicity of this shot David.
There are so many ways to approach this kind of scene,
yet you chose a really natural and effective design.
Ya, there is a slight downward slope from left to right,
but it adds to the dynamics of the shot IMO.
Gorgeous natural colors too.
Well done sir.

HI David
The clear waters seem to go on forever.
A wee bit tilted but it seems to blend in well with the clouds giving a rather nice look to the whole composition.

Hi David,I like how the colours blend so well together. You have made an ordinary object, the canoe, look really special.
Marvellous cloud formation on the horizon to top the complete image off, tack sharp & detailed. Vibrant composition.I felt like jumping right into the canoe & taking it for a sail.

Hi David

There is something quite magical about this image.
The clouds in the sky, the crystal clear water and the details of the simple canoe are perfect.

Hi David,
beautiful colours
good composed picture

This is a great shot indeed!
As a sea lover I cannot help leaving my comment.
Thanks to the polarizer you obtained a fantastic transparency, and the composition is really masterful with the boat in diagonal pointing at that beautiful cloud.

Lovely composition...gr8 colors and exposure

Hi David !
this is a very pleasant image.
I like the angle.
Excellent exposure. The clear water in FG looks beautiful.

Best regards, Daniel

Hi David,
Çok güzel bir deniz kompozisyonu.
Very nice photo,

Hi David,

THis is an awesome location to holiday - I've heard they have many spices there - a gastronomic heaven! :-)

Awesome POV used here - creates a feeling of vast space and depth. Colours are dynamic and refreshing. The boat is certainly fascinating - very stable for fishing out on the reef. Good handling of the harsh light. TFS David.

Beautiful!!! Breathtaking actually...

Nice shot, David! But I think you should have lined the picture slightly according to the skyline... just my opinion :)
I love the scenery and your POV!

And you used the circular polariser very well on this shot. Without it the sky and water would have been washed out a bit. Great capture and snapshot!

Amazing picture, great colours, sharpness and everything. And also wonderful sky and sea.
