[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
King George Island harbours the Arctowski research facilities, belonging to Poland. The base was named after Henryk Arctowski, geologist on Gerlachés 1897 Belgian Antarctic Expedition.

Cormorants are not seen far from land in Antarctica and nest close to the sea, building large nests of seaweed and laying 3 eggs. They feed by diving, often in flock called "rafts" to depths of several meters, in search mainly of fish.
They remain in Antarctic only as long as there is open water, and return early in the spring as the sea melts.

Here we can see them gazing at the sky, waiting their mother to return with food.

Hi Wellington

Good fg sharpness on the black & white cormorants perched on the rocky cliff at right. The shallow dof has worked well here. Excellent colour & graphism. Tfs!

This shot without the cormorants would be OK. With them it's a dynamic shot with an intimate scene in the foreground against a huge and forbidding backdrop. Beautifully composed.

Hi Wellington!
very nice shot! excellent focus and nice blurred background...very nice positioning too...
great work
best regards,

Hi Wellington...very creative shot...I like how much the foreground pops out of the picture against the soft blue...nice work.

Hi wellington
beautiful shot with lovely natural mix tone
nice composed and well done TFS

Hi Wellington,
An impressive winter landscape. The cormorants are reasonably sharp and are shown against a harsh condition. Good work. Best regards

Magnificent composition.
Excellent focus on the cormorants and nicely blurred background.

Best regards,

Beautiful, well composed and framed nature landscape.
That is admirable that your hands didn't shake due to cold outside :)

Belíssima visão
Para mim, muito gelado, mais
de excelente Cartão Postal do lugar!
As geleiras adicionam muita beleza na paisagem!
É claro, que com a Fauna tambem.
Parabens pela bonita captura!
