Hi CM,

The flash has an interesting effect on the ant. Macros like this seem surreal at times, and I believe the flash is accentuating that. I think your aperture was well chosen to get a little extra DOF to keep the entire ant sharp. I like the placement of the ant in the frame too, a successful experiment.

Best regards,

"Kenko-meritam" is your new name! Wonderful capture here with ultimate sharpness and fantastic DOf here- love the standing ant pose and this shot is well timed and composed- full credit to your skill no doubt! Lovely pp work and presentation with good note writing. Keep up the good work!

dear Cyber Meritam,
the ant looks popping-up from the picture, this wonder effect is amazing,
the macro space always makes me feel strange ambience, and in this shot I can feel another 3D sensation, it is very interesting,
maybe changing from sharp to blur shows me another depth of space in it,
thank you for your excellent picture,

Hello Cyber

An incredible close up macro shot of the tiny ant, which now looks huge, & almost menacing, in this shot. Good dof & sharpness with superb color. Tfs!

Hello my dear friend,

Excellent macro with great details, beautiful colors, perfect lighting, contrast and sharpening!
Congratulations and TFS

Ótimo trabalho, CM!
Ótima nitidez na formiga.
Belo enquadramento e lindas cores.
Meus parabéns, meu caro!

Hi CM...nice shot...well composed...excellent details.

While I don't want to contradict your line-up of friends congratulating your success - and while this is a very impressive shot - to me it seems too sharp on the ant.

I'm not sure if you can see, too, there are fine white/pale lines parallel to the edgees of its legs and body, especially against the green of the leaf?

One of the best ways to manage that is to do your sharpening on a separate layer, and then use the masking brush to remove those 'ghost lines,' while keeping the image itself sharp. I think that will give you a more professional looking image.

Sorry to be so critical but I don't believe just saying "great shot" will help you in the long term. :)

hello CM,
A very impressive macro here.
Sharp details, DOF and overall--quite remarkable.
Wonderful contrasts and detail.
TFS, Joni

Hi Cyber,
