[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This a Rice terrace in Yuanyang, the blue colour is the reflection of the sky and minerals in the water, while the red patches are the floating red algae.

Thanks for viewing and taking time off to write a criqutic,

One of the major attractions in Yuanyang beside the rice terrace is the raising cloud and fogs. Besides seeing it you have to breathe the fresh air to feel and get the complete experience.

During the winter/early spring night when the temperature is cold, the fog
condensed at the valley. When the mid morning sun is up the temperature started to increase and the fog rises in matter of minutes it is a spectacular sight.

On the top right hand corner you can see the fog rushing up rapidly.

If I crop the top 1/3 the breathtaking effect will be lost. I.e. leaving only with a white background.

In term of balancing, the terrace on the top right hand corner and the raising fogs is diagonally opposite to the colorful terrace below to balance the photo.

There is an imaginary diagonal line from the left bottom to the top right hand corner.

In this photo beside the visual treat I try to inject a 3rd dimension i.e. the feeling of the fresh air and the rapid raising fogs and as far as your imagination brings you

As for treklens I AM EXPERIMENTING with A DIFFERENT APPROACh


I had increase the situation and sharpen it to bring out the vibrant colours to make an interesting Landscape

What beautifull landscape! Beautifull view!

The scene certainly looks like something from a fantasy novel. The colours are fascinating and the overall effect is a bit mesmerizing. Unfortunately that was only true of the bottom left, the rest is a bit ordinary perhaps (lack of balance is probably the word I'm looking for). For me anyway narrowing the field (eg. taking the entire top third off) to the nearby terracing would have been sufficient. Having said that though you've effectively captured some fascinating landscape.

Okay, first of all the note you left for this photo is just wonderful, it tells me what the subject is, showing its importance, your intentions with the photograph and what effect you wanted to achieve, why you presented it as is. And I like how you pointed out what you liked about your photo. Alright, the photo is amazing, the point of view used really does give us an almost abstract waving image in the rice paddies in the foreground, then the ones in the background at the right, repeating the rythms and creating lots of balance. Then you have the clouds above, and I like your decision to not crop them out too because they make the rice paddies pop out and show the magical and majestic atmosphere in these mountains. The colors are beautiful, great contrasts, good exposure, you have really captured the complex beauty of this landscape. Thanks for sharing!
