[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
For life they are joined, the mahout, and his elephant. An elephant usually suffers greatly if his mahout dies. In Kerala, it appears most elephants travel with two men. At festival parades, during the mating season, it is not uncommon for an elephant to go crazy. They have been known to kill the mahout, if he has mistreated one of them for many years. Trust is all that keeps an elephant and his handler together. The elephant's strength is mighty.
