Getting off an elephant
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|I am not sure, the man on the elephant is getting down quite right. It looks more like he is falling than sliding. Temple priests ride the elephants to the holy ceremonies at the temple, parade, and on the beach. Some elephants travel through the city blessing everyone, collecting offerings of rice, flowers, coconuts, bananas. The official temple elephant travels straight to the beach for another religious ceremony. He blesses homes on the way back. A huge brilliant ceremony with endless fireworks for hours, ends the festival. Cans of gun powder are exploded to alert the Gods also!|
