Mono rock near Bukittinggi

Hi Folks,

Just back from a five week round trip through Indonesia. Had a great time and lots of wonderful photo opportunities.

Well, this is one of them, a mono rock, caused by the 2006 earthquake. A landmark which you can't miss. Anyway, my first contribution to TL in 2011.

Happy new year everybody!

PP work: Small crop, adjustment of levels and curves, resized and sharpened using USM.

Hi Hans,
That's very artistic - the composition, colors, light management and clarity!
A great Nature shot with this pointed rock with a tree on top.
A marvelous POV with such a considerable DOF.
Very neat work adorned with perfect lighting.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

Hoi Hans,
Welkome terug.
Groeten,
Niek

Bom dia Hans,
Glad to see you back. This first illustration from your trip is very good. A romantic shot and very special postcard signed by you. Excellent POV/DOF and precise lightness.
Great work.

Here the composition and framing is so strong with wonderful DOF and the scenic view is out of my world which is very dusty;)
lovely presentation with accurate exposure and beautiful colors.

Hi Hans,

Welcome back, and Happy new Year! A good capture of an interesting phenomenon. The lone tree is nicely placed in a thirds sweet spot and I like how the stream leads us into the shot.

Best regards,
Werner

Nicou

Hi Hans, as I said, this is fantastic from front to back. The colors are vibrant and rich, and there's so much to see in the terrain, right through the photo. So interesting, and so well executed.
Trudy

Wow, in a word. A postcard-powerful shot. The layers of light, colour, and shade through this shot are compelling. An interesting choice to place the rock centrally on the vertical axis, but it really does seem to work. I love those churning, steamy clouds!

Hello Hans, a wonderful shot with so much landscape to enjoy.
The DoF is so good that we feel as if we are there with you taking in all the scenery.
An amazing lump of rock with the tree growing out of the top!
An excellent composition.

Tsja.... aan het manneke bij de rivier (rechts) kun je een beetje de proporties zien... zonder dat figuurtje was het een heel andere plaat geweest..
Het is isn ieder geval een heel mooie plek, mooi vastgelegd.

Hi Hans,
Nice composition. The countryside looks very lush and green. I like the way you captured the tall mountain in the BG appearing over the clouds.

Hi Hans

I spent almost a week in Bukittingi in 1995. A bit too early to see the Mono Rock. Good high pov, superb sharpness & excellent tonal range & graphism, aided by the white cloud & mist. Tfs!

Hi Hans,

Welcome back dear friend!
This is a wonderful place! I like much the composition with this singular tree dominating the lanscape.
The foggy atmosphere gives a great mood and enhances the drama of the place.
Excellent use of light with great fluidity of colors. Bravo! Annie

Welcome back !!!
Great compo, great tones.

Great POV Hans! Nice use of portrait format and the overall composition is pleasing to the viewer! Interesting to see that you've shot this with a UV but not CP filter - you know how much I like vivid blue sky :-)

Cheers

Boa noite hans
Happy New year.
It must be wonderful place. Fine sharpness ( perfect), good colors ( these greens are superb) andvery well composed with the eyes running the composition to that beautiful and vivid sky.
Um abraço
teresa

TFS & groetjes,
Erik

Hi Hans
This is a breathless image, perfect in all aspects: visual strength and beauty, rich details, perfect light and natural colors, elegant composition with a perfect focus in all depth. Bravo.
My compliments, mb

amazing landscape, unique!
the stream adds a nice mood to the image and so does the far peak surrounded by clouds.
i love vertical frames, sometimes they work better than the horizontal ones for the landscapes, this is one example of it
keep on posting this kind of shots from your trip ;)

Hello Hans,
