Hello friends of TL,
I'm back from the hospital and was going through some folders for a happier picture.

Last year there was this English Language Carnival with various competitions for primary school students. A new competition called 'Action Song' was created for pupils of age ranging from 7 to 9 in a group of 15, and they had to sing and make actions in the duration of 5 minutes. Well, managing very young 2nd language learners of English of a rural school was pretty much a handful - but exciting as well. We stayed back after school for 2 weeks and practiced during weekends too. Hectic weeks but they ended up well. We won 1st place in the semi-district level, went for the district level but then, didn't make it for state level. But it was a wonderful experience!

The little boys and girls (Asyraf, Irfan, Izzul, Amirun, Atikah, Afiqah, Asyikin, Shikin, Nurul, Aqilah, Fadhlah, Masturina, Rosma, Syasya & Noor) are clad in bright red outfit which we borrowed from the brass-band team, for we were low in budget - posing in the compound of the school we were competing at. Brilliant youngsters!

No PP, just resized.

All workshops and critiques appreciated. Thanks Dot

Hope you like it.

HI Sharina
Good to hear you are now better from the infection, and congratulations on your win.

Its a very nicely composed shot, altough there are a few distracting elements, ie: the tree the garbage pail, the picture is somewhat slanted, and some of the faces a bit dark. But getting all of them to pose without moving is to me a fantastic shot, as the smiling faces in the foreground make up for the dark ones.

If you allow workshops you would learn a lot from them as many of the members that do workshops are very talented.
Dot

Hello, Sharina,
marvelous shades of red and a very unique line up to get all your students in the photo. I like the contrast in the green grass and that brilliant red. Well composed to be able to see each one's face. I like this. Thanks,
Shelly

An unusual arrangement for a group portrait, but I feel it works very well!

Assalammu'alaikum Sharina
I have to be honest with you without justifying it ok :)
You didn't do that much justice to this troop of yours. If I were you, I would have taken them somewhere nearby and, how they posed would be yours to decide. Something playful, cheerful and looking confidently cool. The arrangement could be something like you have here in zigzag, which by the way is thoughtful, so as you could get everyone in.

I learn in photography, the first instance might be good or appealing at first sight but when you work at it for a little bit more, you might get something better. By working at it, you are also giving yourself time to notice things on the periphery which might not give that much added values to your work. In photography school, it is called "working your subject".

Have fun with your teaching ok. I was a school teacher once, assigned to a rural school with the same or even lower deficiency. And I learn too that, when you are in a school like that, you have to be a Peter Pan a lot more than a government teacher.

Wassalam
Rabani
