This is a shot from around the back of turtle rock, where it looks nothing like a turtle. I loved Mongolia, & wouldn't mind going back one day. Polarized, which increases the saturation. The area had its driest Spring in decades, so no green grass. But it's not hard to work out why Mongolia is often called "the land of blue skies". Views of the stars at night are incredible here, too.

The blue flags tied to the trees are 'khadags' (ceremonial blue ribbons). A type of animist, Buddhist talisman.

Here's a shot of Turtle Rock with a blue colour cast, which I've corrected in this image.

Hi Chris,

The colors are intensely vivid and attractive. The scene reminds me of the Midwest and other National Parks in the U.S. That is one massive rock, an interesting geological formation. Regards.

Hi Chris,

Nature does have some strange and wonderful sights. An excellent, alternate view of the rock with a good low POV to take advantage of the beautiful skies. Just gorgeous, with nice color contrasts.

Hi Chris,

Wonderful capture from the turtle rock with perfect golden colors, which stand very well against the blue sky.

For me, the typical form of this turtle rock looks like the Goldhase chocolate from Lindt (see at http://shop.lindt.de/epages/Lindt.sf/de_DE/?ObjectPath=/Shops/Lindt/Products/67111) ;) The golden color of the rock even make me even more sure :)
just kidding!

Wonderful work!
best regards,
Paras

maybe the sky is a bit too blue (at least on my monitor) but I like this bright compo a lot.

thanks,
v

This is a striking image if only for the saturation - I'm always for stronger colour, especially in landscapes and you've done it beautifully here Chris...

Oh yeah - nice compo too ;-)

DAvid

Chris,
and here I thought it was a giant Jackrabbit overlooking its food supply. An amazing feature in the desert as it must loom over the landscape from afar.
Steve

Hi Chris..nice composition..nice details. I think your saturation is distracting though...I would tone it back a little...
