Tent Pegging ( Naizabazi)

Tent pegging (Naizabazi) is practiced around the world but is especially popular in Australia, India, Israel, Pakistan, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. The Olympic Council of Asia included tent pegging as an official sport in 1982, and the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) recognized the sport in 2004.
The specific game of tent pegging has a mounted horseman riding at a full gallop across a timed course, on the flat and over jumps, using a sword or a lance to pierce, pick up, and carry away a small ground target (a symbolic tent peg) or a series of small ground targets. It can be played as individuals or in teams.
The broader class of tent pegging games also includes ring jousting (in which a galloping rider tries to pass the point of his weapon through a suspended ring); lemon sticking (in which the rider tries to stab or slice a lemon suspended from a cord or sitting on a platform); quintain tilting (in which the rider charges a mannequin mounted on a swivelling or rocking pedestal); and Parthian (i.e., mounted) archery. Again, these events can be scored as individuals or as teams.

Hello Mujahid,
I do enjoy your photos and only wish you would post them more often.
The colours stand out quite strongly with the horse and rider looking brighter against the background.
It doesn't seem as sharp as it could be - but I realise that action shots like this are not easy to capture.
And congratulations on your 50th :)

As usual in your action shots, everything is right in place, Mujahid. The horseman looks very concentrated, the horse looks quite agile, the target is clear.
Colours, on the other hand, are very flat overall - except on the rider's clothes, which I think are way too bright and saturated...
Anyway, TFS!

a belated congratulations on your 50th post. Each and every one a masterpiece! This is no exception. The action takes place before the line of trees. This gives a sense of the dynamic as contrst to the stillness, the fixed position of the trees. It has everything, the kicked up dust, the galloping horse, the tense rider.
