Peterhof

One of St. Petersburg's most famous and popular visitor attractions, the palace and park at Peterhof (also known as Petrodvorets) are often referred to as "the Russian Versaille", although many visitors conclude that the comparison does a disservice to the grandeur and scope of this majestic estate. Versailles was, however, the inspiration for Peter the Great's desire to build an imperial palace in the suburbs of his new city and, after an aborted attempt at Strelna, Peterhof - which means "Peter's Court" in German - became the site for the Tsar's Monplaisir Palace, and then of the original Grand Palace. The estate was equally popular with Peter's granddaughter, Empress Elizabeth, who ordered the expansion of the Grand Palace and greatly extended the park and the famous system of fountains, including the truly spectacular Grand Cascade.

Dear Tsilla,

Saint Petersburg remind me the history channel's program The Great Empires and the magnificient view that you're taken depicts how the idea was conceived and implimnted. Because St Petersburg was marshy land when Tzar Peter ordered to built the city. Your composition is lovely, beautifully taken image from intelligently chosen PoV. Well done. Thanks for sharing.

Kind Regards,
Inaam

Hi Tsilla,
A very interesting POV to capture this garden adorned with golden statues and nice black and white tiles of the pavement. It compares well with the Versaille!
I'm sorry I have to admit there is no clear focusing in the whole presentation. It's blurred, maybe the re-sizing has caused this mishap!
Regards,

Francis Xavier

Bom dia Tsilla,
Apart the comparisons it's an awesome example of high gardening and your shot makes justice to it's beauty. Superb DOF.
Cheers,
R.

I have to agree with Francis on the focusing issue, Tsilla!

The light and exposure are well handled, however, lack of needed focus in the picture does decline the overall appeal of this scenic location.
Hope you don't mind openness in this regard.

Thanks for sharing.

Shalom,
Paras

Hi tsilla
Good perspective and rich composition.
Fine sharpness and impressive place

I've been away and nothing has changed. Bad, unsharp photo obvious even to a casual glance, a picture I would be ashamed to post gets undeserved praise from fairly good photographers.
I am not saying anything further. I just hope you enjoy your points.

Olá tsilla
Good sharpness and good perspective of this interesting place. You know so many places...it is great to travel with you ( two)
