another archive photo of mine :)

a street barber in the backlanes of Chinatown
i spoke to both the barber and his customer for about 15 mins...actually they did most of the talking while i shoot :P
they were talking about how things "used to be"...about politics...and generally about life on this sunny little island :)

i think the hair cut was $3 :)

slective desaturation using the mirror as a guide
auto levels and contrast

Nikon D70
Nikkor 18-70mm kit lens

ps: i hav forgotten when i took this photo...but based on the crossed out numbers on the calendar on the wall, it looked like the day was 26th :P

Hi BK,
This is realy great PP-art my friend. The coloured side is perfect in respect of colours and lighting; the B&W side has nice contrast. Excellent posting. TFS.

This is SO cool how you did this! Really nice shot! It's cool how the people in the mirror are sharp and the REAL people are blurred!

Very interesting composition. Black and white everywhere but mirror ... there is a colour. look at the mirror? maybe? very interesting I will say again.
regards and thanks for sharing archive photos!

Hi Xu,
I like these street barbers. There is a lot of the in the Vietnamese street and to see that brings back good memories to me. The use of selective desaturation here is very effective. I like the facial expression of the barber :) In sum, it is a very well composed multifaceted scene you've posted here.

Very beautiful and interesting photo.
Thanks for sharing.

WOW! great POV and pp work Bk. well composed. Tfs

Looking at the black triangles, it looks like the 1st of the month fell on Saturday, so it was either October or January. :)

Am I seeing the second mirror on the wall right below 231A? It has a very strange reflection.

hello my friend!
wonderful shot, i like this pp work.

Hello Koh,
Great composition with colour and B/W, so much details and superb colour!
I loved it with daily life in Singapore

Any photos of Raffael city or changi?

Hi BK,

WOW!! This is terrific! I like the B&W look in combination with the coloured version through the mirror! It has an artisitc and traditional look!

Very well done
ps. I think I need a haircut too... :))

Nice concept. I like the reflection of the motocycle in the other mirror.

This photo reminds me of my childhood.A good piece of art. Thanks for sharing.

My friend, excellent work here, Perfect details very crisp Good to see a colegue working .. using the same material / tools. Good use of the mirrors!
TFS Koh.. thanks

Nice compo, a real good idea this contrast of desaturated-coloured images. Congratulations.

Hi BK, you know very common scene from India too. Lovely captured. Liked the way you did color and B&W split. :) Vandana

Great details in the overall picture, and a superb idea for the partial desaturation - an "old vs. new" theme captured here. DOF works particularly well to maintain focus on the mirror

Lovely journalistic shot which has brought an interesting reality to the world. It seems like the client is enjoying during the hair cut. Good post procesing which is emphesising the subject. Well done BK.

Very nicely captured, Koh. I like your selective desaturation on this one to keep only the mirror image in colour. It brings back some very good memory from my first & only trip to Hanoi where I saw barbers working on this street. Well done!

Lovely! I have a friend who's always reminded me of days like this... I hope that makes sense? :P

Anyways, the mood and situation in this photo is stunning... especially when you connect the note to the image. There are few things I enjoy as much as talking to my Grandfather about politics, life and well philosophy in general... I always find people who are older than me to be the beautiful and soulful ones. :) Which, is why I think this image is stunning... there's a real complicit air to this image... and I love how they seem so natural even when they knew you were standing there catching their every move.

This is the kind of photography that I love, thanks so much for the post!

Thanks for interesting note.
Good work.
be happy Aghi

A good work of desaturación, within an excellent composition and suitable position of the elements. It hurts that it is necessary just a little bit of resistance, is opaque.
