Sir Stamford Raffles - the founder of Singapore.

The statue is on the riverside near where he first landed in Singapore and a short walk from the famous Raffles Hotel where you can have a Singapore Sling Cocktail which was invented in the Long Bar - it was patronised over the decades by a host of famous writers, including Ernest Hemingway and Somerset Maugham,
