Here is a photo of a great egret ( Belize name : Gallin Garza )i took while hiking around the marshes of the massive "Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary" Belize managed by the Belize Audubon Society . This is a great place to watch birds that migrate to the sanctuary between Dec and May . The best time for birding here though is April-May when the low level of the lagoon draws thousands of birds into the open to seek food in the shallows yet any time between Dec and May bird-watchers are in for hours of ornithological bliss and we were not disappointed for sure.
Caught this big guy off the lagoon in a small pond between dwellings along a dirt road leading off the edge of the water towards the center of the village .
Not much PP for this one , just played a little with contrast and highlights ,sharpened and added a narrow white frame to complement .
As the tilte suggests 'part one' is the beginning of a series of photos of those wonderful birds i captured during this trip .
Not a birder at all but it was fun to stalk ( sometimes too easy ) them but i did try to get the best shots possible within my capability to respond , thank you for looking and reviewing ,
Carol

Ciao Carol, great capture of lovely great egret in nice walking pose, beautiful natural ambientation, wonderful colors, splendid light, excellent sharpness and fine details, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

You have captured nice details of this lovely Egret, Carol!

I like the light in this case, unveiling the tender and soft feathers of this beautiful bird.
The colors are natural and contrasts are well maintained in the scene.
Nice work!

Kind regards,
Paras

Ciao Carol,

Perfect sharpness & exposure on the heron with no oe & a good oof bg. I like the reversed 's' shape of its neck. The bird is well positioned in the frame away from the center. Good light contrasts & diffused lighting. Tfs!

This Egret stalks his prey in a very similar stance as the Blue Heron from our part of the world.I like how well you have handled the whites of the feathers, good details & with natural coloring.I would presume Carol, viewing it at full size would show off its feathers even more, this small size for TL does not do this image justice. Well taken,TFS

Ron
