Hi Eric,
It's not easy to get such a sharpness on a white covered remains of the common hogweed. The frost is perfect captured, sharp and no OE. The blurred but still recognisable background makes it an attractive picture. Great posting Eric.

The details in the frost here are truly exemplary and I really like the light in the background.
This is certainly not a "typical" flower picture -- so you should be able to forgive yourself :D

Whatever makes a good subject, Eric. Sometimes it's about 'what' you photograph, other times it's 'how.'

This - for example. Beautifully sharp and well metered, with excellent depth of field and bokeh. The square crop works nicely, as does the simple frame.

Bonjour Éric,
"Il ne faut pas dire fontaine, je ne boirai pas de ton eau" dit le proverbe. Je crois que cela s'applique à tous les a priori que nous avons tous! L'important c'est de voir autrement! Ce que tu as fait admirablement bien ici en présentant cette branche gelée avec une belle assurance. L'arrière-plan un peu flou vient d'ailleurs renforcer la précision des détails et forcer l'attention sur la beauté de la plante, somme toute assez banale à son naturel, mais que le gel rend tout à fait spectaculaire. Elle est magnifique ta photo!! belle présentation et une superbe composition et détails que tu apportes et montres la beautée que la nature a dessiné par une nuit de givre, le background foncé rehausse l'éclat de cette plante bien dessinée par la gelée, Belle prise de vue ..Bravo pour cette belle photo..

Hi, Erik!

From a dog you do not have a picture? :-) The beauty has many forms. The picture depicts what we see punctual in the plainer case, neither much, neither less.
Many spectators like these pictures simply. Somebody else in cases the layers of the picture, he has levels, he has a message beyond the sight. Is not needed to be ashamed, if the beauty of the form gives you pleasure simply.
This frozen flower a delicate beauty, you should not conceal it. :-)

Een man van weinig principes dus.....;-)
Het vlees mag dan zwak zijn, de foto is sterk juist door de contrasten tussen onderwerp en achtergrond.
De plant schiet omhoog uit het kader wat de compositie ten goede komt. Dus: neem het wat minder nauw met je principes en doe wat je denkt te moeten doen.

Ben blij dat je deze toch geplaatst hebt Erik, hele mooie plaat met een mooie pov en goede details wat toch zo moeilijk is met ijs en sneeuw, Over het wit zit nog wel een blauwsluier, mij hebben ze ooit geleerd om echt witte sneeuw te krijgen moet je 2 stops overbelichten. Ik heb in een WS de witbalans aangepast.

Hoi Erik,

Om te beginnen met de foto: Echt heel gaaf dat het plantje helemaal wit is en de achtergrond bruin! Dat geeft toch wel een tegenstrijdig effect, maar het ziet er erg goed uit :-)

Als tweede de psychologische bijstand:
Eerst een vraag, 'Hoe komt het dat jij het fotograferen van bloemen en huisdieren echt NIET leuk vind? en ZElFS niet leuk vind om naar te kijken?' Bij bloemen kan ik me enigszins voorstellen dat het saai is (alhoewel het mij maar 1 keer gelukt is om een macro van een bloem te krijgen haha), maar huisdieren is toch altijd wel een super uitdaging om die op de foto te krijgen! En dan bedoel ik natuurlijk niet van 'kijk dit is mijn geweldige hond waar ik een foto van moet maken', maar ik bedoel 'kijk dit is mijn geweldige hond die ik orrigineel op de foto heb weten te krijgen :-D
Om nu dan toch maar tot mijn conclusie te komen: Als jij een geweldig/ orrigineel/ bijzonder-achtige foto weet te maken van een doodsaaie bloem of van een..(nouja ik weet dus niet wat je bezwaar tegen huisdieren is) huisdier dan zeg ik: Maken en uploaden maar! :-D

De planten zijn goed gekozen (groepje van 3) en mooi in beeld gebracht. Eventueel kan je nog iets opghelderen. Ik doe ff een photo - work - shop.

I guess if we call this a frost sculpture we can ignore that it is a flower.

This is stunning Eric. You may not think you like this type of image , but obviously you have an eye for it. A simple beautiful image with perfect clarity and choice of DOF. Lovley framing . An Excellent work, and I hope you wander a bit again.
