Isn't it every child's dream to dig such a hole? It was mine... And although I've tried hard, I never succeeded.

Okay maybe the picture is not of very good "artistic" quality... I just liked the sight of these boys playing.

~~Technical stuff ~ PhotoShop 7~~
* picture taken from fourth floor of appartment building, using all the non-digital zoom I had
* cropped, converted picture from landscape view to portrait view
* duplicated background layer
* made border via 3x "Image -> Canvas Size", using dark blue and a blue-ish white
* added drop shadow to duplicated layer
* thought 3 seconds about text
* added text in same dark blue as before

Comments/critiques/tips/workshops are more than welcome!

See you,
Annelies

This is a nice picture, a good frame did you make.
Sometimes you have a picture with a story, mostly the quality is not always okay, but the story is much better, and otherwise you have a great picture and ther is no story, so what, people see it and comment it as they wil. I like this picture and you note.

Héhé. Great format and framing Annelies.
I really like what you did here. Both the shot and the PP.
TFS.
See you around.
Denis.

Men will always be boys - with more expensive toys ;o). So your picture really appeals to me, Annelies. The way you cropped it made the beach look wider than it actually is, I think. The only thing I would change is the orientation of the text... I don't really like words written vertically.

It's funny to see the main objects as tiny little details in a very "high" picture, it's nice done, however the text, I won't do this, but that's just personnal, great shot and very, very clear and sharp, Abbelies !

Hi Annelies, what a great picture and original crop ! I like it a lot ! Colors are fabulous too.

Great stuff !

Nice picture. Almost minimalist. IMHO, the text is a bit distracting as it tends toward minimalism. JMHO. But it is a good pic.

This is one cute idea Annelies and very well executed. I love the yawning gap of the upper part of the picture - somewhat underscoring the fact that you would be digging deeeeeep... Technically too it's perfect - crisp, neat and with a good DOF. Great picture...

What a wonderful job framing this shot. And I absolutely love how you cropped it. Wonderful shot.

I liked the thumbnail - I love it this size Annelies. What a beautiful scene, colours, composition and frame too. An excellent job, thank you.
And if they're still digging, let me know and I'll go and check the beaches around here to see if they've arrived. (I'm in New Zealand)
