Took this picture on the same event as Kirsten did.It was amazing what sand artist can do with a truckload of sand :-)....this sand castle was at least 20 meters heigh...only real artists and architects could pul this off...

Technical.
used pallas circular polarizor filter.
focus set on multi, also the lighting on multi, was quite difficult to get the perfect exposure so i dicided on the average and in ps i corrected the levels on the lower part , it was a litlle to dark, also boosted the color a little ..

Hi Leon,
Nice shot. Good composition and good work on the exposure. The clouds make this look unreal--very fairy tale in feel. Good job.
Take care.
Richard

I like your centered composition; it works well here, specially with the two animals at the bottom. Good job at balancing the light! As I said to Kirsten, it's good to capture these ephemeral sculptures. Great job!

Wooow... that's an excellent art work Leon, very well captured, I like the POV, colours and the composition. Very well done, thanks for sharing. :)

Truly amazing - not only the architecture of the castle but also your capture of it. I like the low angle with the path leading us up to the building. Great DOF.

What a lovely sand castle!! Very well composed and captured.

Great shot Leon. I like how you managed to get the wolves in the foreground in focus, as well as the castle in the background. Good job with the lighting. The point of view is also very very good.
Points tomorrow.

Hi Leon

Wow! Superb sand sculpures, with excellent sharpness. I like the color contrast, & graphism, of the yellow sand against the blue sky. Congratulations!

Your capture is fantastic but the sand sculpture is Superb! Very good detail and great colors.
Vassilis

WOW Leon it looks like the whole place including dogs an girl are turned into solid rock as the result of an evil spell of some kind. The POV is great showing just the scene and the sky.

good subject, good centring, but no size reference.

Really good shot, Leon. I like your POV very much, it makes the castle look enormous. I agree with Shutter2Think about the clouds - very well done. The composition is very appealing.
By the way: sand artists in Houthalen? Where's the beach there? :-)

Beautiful contrasts in this shot, Leon. And a terriffic capture of this sandcastle. I like the large DoF in which both the wolves in the FG and the castle in the BG are perfectly sharp. Subtle corrections, the shot has a very natural feel to it. TFS.

Hi Leon, this is amazing sand sculpture that yiy captured here. Due to the razorsharpness, the beautifully rendered textures it kinda comes alive. The gives a nice twist to this. Very nice work, Bert.

Just amazing Leon!
The way you composed the image, and the POV makes it look like real. And the sky is just great
Well done
Take care, Stef

This looks so real. The way you photographed this is much like any other real castle on a hill - even better. Great lighting, sharpness, colors and POV, which makes it look grand!

Hi Leon,
This is a great shot. The polarizer helps bring out the clouds and sky.
Amazing what people can do with some imagination eh?

I'm finding that shooting dead on, the meter reading, not under or over, works great with the polarizer.
Depending on the situation though, the under exposure sure deepends the sky. Some like the deep blue others don't.
I like it for water shots or bright colors on blue.

Mike

Very impressive picture Leon, a sand castle 20 meters high!Wow!
Best regards
Guy

I saw Kirsten's perspective, which is a beauty, isn't it ?
And this one, the light and the combination of sand and sky, clear all over, that's what I like and the composition, very low (like it) and gives also a great view on the sand-art, nice, nice, Leon !

This is fantastic Leon, what a great shot very sharp and with brilliant detail. Your POV shows it very well. TFS this excellent piece of architecture with us.

John

An incredibly cool photo, Leon! That is the most amazing sand castle I have ever seen. Your lighting and POV are spot on!

TFS,
Alli

This really is superb. You picked a good angle and managed to convey the mystery and beauty of the temporary work of art. And sand is so difficult to photograph (there are so many tones and shades in it, that it often looks wrong). This could be a scene from a sci-fi movie.

Fantastic image - very well taken shot :)
