Picture taken about an hour ago. After a very mild autumn, we're hit by early snow. Big sticky flakes, covering the whole area and shooing the people inside. Taking cover in the kiosk I wiped a bit of the railing free from snow to support the camera. The lines in the picture are caused by the snowfall.
The view is from the "Groenplaats" (green-place, once called green-cemetry, what it used to be) a central square popular by both tourists and locals as a meeting place. In the center of the square stands the statue of Rubens, Flanders' greatest painter. In the background, illuminated by strong spotlights is the Cathedral of Our Lady the most prominent landmark and pride of our city.
(Slightly sharpened and brightened the picture, added signature.... somewhere ;-))

An amazing effect. The tower in the back that is nearly the same colour as the sky creates some magical feeling.

Amazing to think it's snowing on the other side of the world and we are just trying to get out of the sun.

Nice moody picture,Walter! The illuminated Cathedral of Our Lady in the background is wonderful! I like the lines created by the snow flakes! As I can see Lady Snow is all over the places now! Guntram from Germany was telling me a couple of hours ago that She was there also! And She is here in Montreal as well! Great shot! Michel

Nice moody shot with all those snowflakes swirling around your lens Walter. Excellent POV and beautifuly lit cathedral.
Well done!
Réal

Nice atmosphere in this one, Walter. All those lines made by the snowflakes look like fireworks. This actually feels like a celebration of the coming winter. But why shouldn't it be? When it offers shots like this.

Walter een prachtige foto van 't stad. De sinjoor in mij roept om een thema voor Antwerpen maar dat zou ons misschien te ver drijven. Ja, en je handtekening staat weer op de perfecte plaats (o:

Don't bother, this time I spotted it immediately, Walter ;o)).
This is a beauty, near-perfection! I love the soft lights, the stripy snow adds a surreal feeling to the picture. Excellent details in the cathedral.
And: congrats on being the first to show this "event".
TFS.

Nice shot. Isn't snow fairly uncommon in Antwerp? Not to mention, it's only November.
TFS,
Randy

SUPERB, INDIGO AWARD, Magda, (*_*)

Really quite excellent with the snowfall 'streaks' adding greatly to an already pleasing urban scene.

Awsome. Never been to Antwerp, but already like it. Congratulations.

Hello Walter!

A familiar place to me despite I have been there a long time ago.
This image looks like a star war scene! Real strange atmosphere. Interesting light!
Well done Walter.
TFS,
Robert

Very nice picture Walter, and sorry I found your signature easily. By the way it's a good idea to integrate your name this way.

About the snow I just came from my driveway to shovel the 20 cm we receive yesterday and today.

Have a nice winter time.
Jean

Great night shot in the snow. I even like the overexposure parts. Lovely scene. The person with the umbrella is just great. I found your signature, and this is a nice touch.

I like so much that mix of modern and ancien buildings mix together in a natural effects of snow! It's look all together artistic unther those lights effect! Great one!

Mooie foto; spookachtig; de stad in de wintergreep; vrolijke kleuren. Magistraal staat de kerk er.
Ben daar vaak geweest, maar zo zag ik het nooit.
