This is another Puffin shot from my recent trip to Iceland. The puffins were not doing much when I went to see them but I was charmed by their sad eyes as they stood on the cliff edge

Puffins from the RSPB:

Latin name
Fratercula arctica

Auks (Alcidae)

An unmistakable bird with its black back and white underparts, and distinctive black head with large pale cheeks and a tall, flattened, brightly-coloured bill. Its comical appearance is heightened by its red and black eye-markings and bright orange legs. Used as a symbol for books and other items, this clown among seabirds is one of the world's favourite birds. With half of the UK population at only a few sites it is an Amber List species.

One egg is laid, which hatches about six weeks later, and after hatching the young puffin remains underground concealed in the nest, until the night comes for it to head for the open sea, not to return until it is ready to breed, usually some five years later

Hello Karan,

Fine balance in this composition!
And those guys are attractions in hemselves, doesn't need much more in the frame with a puffin there hehehe...
I admire the exposure, that covers all from black to white with fine details!

Hi Karan - very nice puffin portrait. Well composed with the bird to the left of the frame and looking across the image like that. Nice shot with nothing to distract us from the beauty of the bird itself.

Hi Karan,
The puffin's expression is always 'touching'... their eyes are naturally looked sad. You captured it nicely in lovely colors and great clarity.

Hello Karan, I was just going to comment on the sad eyes of the Puffin, when I read your note!I wonder what it is looking at, maybe out to sea?
A lovely study with the bird well placed in the composition.
The sharpness is fabulous.
Tfs, regards Jean.
