Italy, Rome, April 2010 in a sunny afternoon.

Sometimes we are not very sure what way to choose.

Forum Romano is really well placed in Roma, near "Coliseu" and in confront with other Forum: the Palatino. If at first I though I would be able to see and share all this in one day...I was completely wrong.
Roma is a place to take a seat and breath beauty.

I was working selected color in this photo and I had been lost in the sky,... when I come back to the architecture part I notice that I had made it black and white.

I like the difference and the diversity.
World is not black and white the most of times.

This is a very interesting example of PP although I do think it would be nice to see the 'flowline' of how you got this effect in your notes. This gives an old feel to the picture, which suits the subject.

This would also look good cropped to a more panoramic format - losing some of the sky and keeping the single cloud above the main columns - just an idea!

Hi Teresat
Simple sky and old architecture... it remembers me some Roman old movies
The post processing is match here, good composition ,thanks
Best wishes, Alireza

Hello, Teresa -
You have a way of capturing light in a photo that gives the image such a timeless and dream-like atmosphere -- this shot is no exception. The columns look so ancient as they stand out against the warm Italian sky. Nicely balanced with lots of dense detail below but peaceful space and sky above. Very well done, my friend.

Bom dia Teresa,

E ROMA, a cidade do AMOR, agradece. Eu, humildemente, também.

Grande abraço,

Hi Teresat,

Your post processing has created an awesome interpretation of this architectural shot. The contrasts are nicely exploited in comparison with the warm colors of some of the structures. I agree with David that cropping some of the sky to make this more panoramic would strengthen the composition.

Best regards,

Your color treatment is fantastic as always Teresa .. I can always tell your shots from the thumbnails. The treatment contributes to making this a timeless shot.
I might have cropped a little lower from the top, to make a more panoramic view .. I don't think the shot would suffer any with a little less sky.
Great shot .. beautiful!
Trudy :)

Hello Teresat

Love the image. What a classic view here of the ruins. Awesome. I wanted to see your great image in B/W. I did a workshop if that is OK.

Hi Teresat,
I wonder how you achieve such shot which truly seems ages old!!here you shot Rome and manged the sun light very well which gives a warm color over the FG historical left over of the Rome,a good DOF in this composition can be seen as well, the gradient color of sky in BG looks beautiful too, well captured and a nice presentation of Rome with artistic PP work.
Best Regards

Ahh you added contrast and reposted! I love this! Excellent shot Teresa! Reminds me of an old photograph! Your sharpness is EXCELLENT and I love the broad view of this beautiful place! Nice work!

Ciao Teresat

Hi Teresat,
I like your note ," World is not black and white the most of times" how very true.
I like your choice of angle for capturing this scene,it seperates the ruins of the past from the buildings of today in a manner that makes us see, that they are of a history long gone, but still a reminder of the great architecture of that era.To me your PP effects, make this image appear, as if it were taken in the early 1900s,I like it very much ,well taken IMHO.

Best Regards

Hola Teresa

Bonjour Teresat,
Magnifique photo qu'on croirait sortie de l'antiquité. Le post traitement que vous lui avez appliqué lui va à merveille. Vous avez trouvé le cadrage qu'il fallait pour mettre en valeur ces magnifiques colonnes.

Hi Teresa,

This is an awesome photo. The POV is very nice. I can see the secret path takes you from the old ruined city to the new one. The Lighting is great and the interspersion of the colours is wonderful.

Always a pleasure to look at your photos.

Hi Teresa,
You give me the taste to revisited my old file of my travel in Rome with your splendid photo! Yes the vastness of this city gives a challenge at a tourist! I would have liked to stay there a whole month to enjoy all its splendours. I had only three days for visiting.

You a did a clever PP work at your photo. The play with colors gives a beautiful ambience emphasizing the impression to be in History. The light falling on the porticos and the diagonal old pavement put the accent on the heart of the place and, in the same time, this is a good invitation to go far away in the image. Very beautiful work! Annie

WOW amazing colours and lighting. Beautiful details and there are so many interesting things to see. Maybe I would crop a bit from the top of the photo to focus more on the buildings, but other than that a beautiful shot!

Hi Teresa,
Very interesting composition. The photo has a timeless quality. I wish you had explained the post processing that you did for people to learn.

The 'colourised' effect of this is so striking, never mind the perfect placement of elements in the frame and the exquisite sharpness.

I think you've done a fantastic job on this shot. The people on that climbing road in the lower part of the shot are a great touch, adding that human scale to this amazing scene.

Hi Teresat...this is a nice shot...you did a good job on the colors making it look like an old painted photograph..nice work.

They say when in Rome do as the Romans do , ha ha , so true !
How are you my friend ? Alright this little vacation allowed to you sightsee in one super city and you took advantage of its archaelogical site to shoot some frames , great view down the stony pathway , i like this type of presentation in which we can appreciate the ancient and the contemporary co-existing side by side litterally. Yes Teresa if you thought you could see it all in one day you were absolutely wrong ,hi hi , remember that other saying : Rome was not made in one day ! This gives such a realistic idea of what this remarkable city has to offer , hope you enjoyed it ,
Um abraço ,

dear Teresa,
this depressed tone of colors are excellent and very tasteful,
your choice of color temperature fits well this historic place,
and basic ground of the shadow makes the sky far distant,
after all you succeed to express ancient feeling of great ruins,
it reminds me of 1950's cinemas of historical spectacle stories too,
thank you for your beautiful shot,

I think that you have achieved very nice light in this shot Teresa. I love the yellow-ish right side of the image and the blue on the rest of the shot.
Somehow this looks like an old color photograph... one taken in the 60s and colored by hand. A lovely effect, suiting the old, breathtaking place in Roma!

Greetzzz, Anneke

Olá Teresa,

Oh Teresa - I was there in 1999 and I would LOVE to go back again one day.
Wow, you shot this well. The ruins are just so interesting to see and the lighting emphasises the shapes and architecture. Maybe I would like the darker edges to be lighter so I could see more though.
Thank you for bringing back more memories for me

Olá Teresa,
I'm sure once the builders of such enormous architecture had finished their work, they'd never want to consider for a second that it may fall to rubbles one day. You've beautifully documented this snapshot from the capital of the Roman Empire. And interesting luminosity in sepia. Fine details and nicely chosen PoV. Well done my friend. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Teresat

I like the partial desaturation at the bottom. Good color & sharpness. I also think a crop to the top might also look good. I'd love to visit this place one day. Tfs!

I like the color especially of the buildings, it gives the image an old photo look. Good use of the shadows to create depth. Great dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.

A wonderful architecture is shown in this strong colored work, dear Teresa!

Perfect details and nice sharpness with amazing view.
The colors are well treated and the sky adds mood into the work.
Well caught light and exposure!

Oh Teresa you are wonderfully talented!

My favourite part of this image is the TINY people along the path near the bottom of your image. It really makes you realize the enormous size of the structures in the photo!

The colour treatment is absolutely perfect, gives it a delicious vintage flavour. The sharp contrasts and muted colours are just... perfect. I remember when I was in Rome I listened to a lot of "feel good" music - this song kind of reminds me of my short trip there: http://hypem.com/track/1t2rq/Clubfeet+-+Acapulco+%26+LA

Thanks for your beautiful images... they're so special. :)
