A postcard of the Shrine of Ta' Pinu, Gozo, Malta.

In May 1990, Pope John Paul II came to Ta' Pinu Shrine and after praying in the Chapel he celebrated mass in the forecourt and decorated the image of Our Lady with five golden stars, as testimony of our people's love to the blessed Virgin Mary.

While on 18 April 2010 Pope Benedict XVI, on his first visit of Malta, presented a golden roses. While addressing the crowd gathered at Floriana, before he recited the Regina Caeli Pope Benedict expressed his pleasure: "I am aware of the particular devotion of the Maltese people to the Mother of God, expressed with great fervour to Our Lady of Ta' Pinu and so I am pleased to have the opportunity to pray before her image, brought here specially from Gozo for this occasion. I am also delighted to present a Golden Rose to her, as a sign of our shared filial affection for the Mother of God. I ask you in particular to pray to her under the title Queen of the Family..."

Hi Francis

Good sharpness & wonderful warm vs cold color contrasts between the blue sky & reddish orange architecture. Perspective has been well managed with the verticals aligned in the centre. Have a great weekend!

Hi Francis.

Such an impressive tsand alone, building, the architecture showing in all its glory with the full light bouncing off the walls. The lines and the clock tower coupled with the arched shape parking area give great pleasure. TFS

Hello Francis :)

The architecture of this church delights, and the colour contrasts with surroundings magnificently.

Fantastic architecture of this church, perfect sharpness and details, well composed

Ciao Francis, great view of fantastic church, excellent clarity, wonderful pastel colors and splendid light, very well done my friend, ciao Silvio

What a wonderful architecture you have caught against such an artistic cloud formation, dear Francis!

Great detail of the facade of the building with amazing light and exposure.
The colors are original and contrasts are well kept.
Nice work!

Have a nice weekend.

Thanks and regards,

Hello Francis, a really beautiful shot of this Chapel. The light is so typical of the light that you get in the Mediterranean, it lights up all the fascinating details of the building.
It would appear to be built on a hill removed from other buildings? That is the impression that you give.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hello Francis

I like the image except for the one dark cloud on the right side of the image, it took my eye away from the main subject. The cars keep the image from becoming a instant classic. The sharpness is outstanding. Have a nice day.

Hi Francis,
Indeed a postcard. You show the great beauty of the building very well. I can only wonder at what the interior looks like.

Given the clear blue sky, the exposure is perfect here, no hint of any over-exposure. The HDR work is very subtle, and is not over powering as most HDR posts on TL are these days.

Malta is so rich in beautiful and historic architecture and once again you have shown it off to good effect with excellent colour, clarity and detail. Always enhanced by the proximity of the countryside and sea. TFS

Bom dia Francis,
Impressive sharpness and POV/DOF, perfect lighting.
Great HDR filtering.
Best wishes,
