Mgarr is known as the gateway to Gozo. The harbour is dominated by a neo-gothic monument, the Lourdes Church built in 1888 (the church in the left). Some years earlier, a visitor to the area remarked that the rocks of the hill where the church now stands, resembled those of the Grotto of Massabielle in Lourdes, France. The second church (the one on the right) is that of the village of Ghajnsielem which includes Mgarr fishing village. In the center of the village is the majestic Lombard-Gothic sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Loreto. The two churches are the two icons of the Malta sister island Gozo.

Bom dia Francis,
Once again a postcard of your beloved archipelago of Malta and its natural and architectural beauties.
Today you are here one of the unquestioned masters of HDR.
What impresses me most about this picture is its lovely harmony.

Hi Francis

Such an attractive port, its another place to add to the 'must see' list. Good contrasting layers from sky land and sea, the white sof the boats appear a tab OE though. The view consisting of of a semi-circle adds to the appeal, especially the contrasting architecture from the old churches to the modern blocks to the right, well seen. tfs

Hi Francis, I like the fast shutter speed freezing the water and creating a painting like nice image... Well done & TFS

I like the two spires and the mast - they create a nice symetry and balance. A beautiful port and weather to highlight its beauty. My only criticism would be that it seem to have a slight lean to the right.

Hello francis
