Oscine birds at St Thomas Bay. Scanned from a negative

Additional information:
You see here one of the great problems Malta has when joining the European Commutity. In 2003 Malta has 70 hunters per square-kilometer - they are hunting birds during spring and autumn!!!

You could see here decoys. The birds who are flying from Italy via Malta to the south are captured by lime-twigs or nets.

Hmmm...good shot, but I don't understand it...wish you had explained more. If it is an art installation, it is interesting and curious. If it is really set up for birds, I wish I knew why. Anyway, good composition, a bit noisy, clear details, something to puzzle over:)

Halo Achim
Ja das ist auch kein wunder ,auf Malta gibt,s mehr schtein als baume und diese vogelheuser sind sehr interesant

Hello Achim
Very interesting note and photo and the result from scanning shows the rocks and cages sharp.
Wish you had told us what type of birds are being caught, what is done with them and if it is now on the endagered species list.

What a tragic moment for all the birds in this area. Maybe they gonna sell the birds. Is there any law prohibiting this kind of practice? Here in the Philippines, we have so many reserved areas for migrating birds. Well composed my friend.

Hi Achim

Good graphism & repetition, with superb compo, but the grain in the sky lets you down slightly, here. Tfs!

incredibly that heavy cram on those fine piles. Never seen!

Hi Achim,

Yes I knew about bird hunting, but there are several other countries (will not name them) that also hunt birds in the migrating season.
I never did see a set up like this to catch birds - seems more like an art exhibition.
Lovely picture does it make.
