Actually a future thatched roof. After weeks of grey skies and lots of rain, we finally had a break in the weather. Yesteday was a really beautiful sunny day. I had to use it to my best, so I packed my gear and drove to ŽDe WiedenŽ a nature reserve in the north of the province Overijssel. Just south of Giethoorn.

This is an area still used for its reed production but it is also known for its beautiful nature. And one of the areas where humans and nature live next to each other. Even the cutting of the reed is regulated, so that there are still enough places of reed left for the birds to nest and to hide.

ŽDe WiedenŽ which translates to wide places, wide lakes is located just south of Giethoorn; Giethoorn used to be a carfree town known in the Netherlands as Venice of the North. It became famous, especially after 1958, as the Dutch film maker Bert Haanstra made his famous comedy "Fanfare" there. Therefore, Giethoorn is an internationally well-known tourist attraction in the Netherlands. In the old part of the village, there were no roads (nowadays there is a cycling path), and all transport was done by water over one of the many canals.

Very nice composition. Good shooting.
Well done.

Kerem

Interesting treatment. It has an old polaroid feel to it.

Cheers!

Ben.

Hello Niek,
The colour says autumn indeed!
Maybe the date says winter... have you started skating the canals yet? Hehehehe...
This is a new version of the haybales!
Well framed, good colours and pleasant details!

Hoi Niek,

Toch leuk idee!
Groetjes
Darlene

Very good image. Love the colours of the straw.

Mooie plaat Niek lekker scherp en goed van kleur, maar op een of ander manier spreekt de comp mij niet zo aan, misschien een lager standpunt innemen.

i like this composition niek :)
love the details from the "thing" :P not sure what they are but they look great on photo :)

i tried a little workshop for b/w
and also to try bring the forground subject closer to the viewer, or more "pop"
it a new idea of PP technique i had for bluring backgrounds :) you photo here is the perfect subject cause there are not definate lines in the frame except the horizon :)

back later with :))

Hi Niek

Great POV here and I love the way the triangular bales are seen receeding back into the distance. Lovely light (nice to see some sun) which gives the warm tones. Lovely

hi Niek,
Great use of repetitive forms.
I wish the one in front was a bit more to the left.
I think it's great though.

Well done and best regards,
Daniel.

Nice composition. Very nice POV.

Grace
