From dust till dawn

Yep, not "from dusk till dawn", the movie but "from dust till dawn" due the volcano dust cloud torturing the western European airspace which created yesterday evening a special sunset.

Here the hamlet of Stompetoren in the polder of Spaarndam facing west. Took this picture 17 minutes after the one I posted yesterday which I took on 20:34 hrs. local time, the moment of sunset at the Dutch coast were I live.

PP work: shot in Raw, adjusted clarity, brightness and contrast, converted to jpeg and adjusted levels, curves and saturation (all minor). Resized, sharpened using USM, add frame.

Hi Hans,
It is good to be back, just a litle slower now, but still as keen.

I don't envy you having to put up with the disruption, and mess that ash cloud must be causing you.
Your images are both beautiful, and at the same time portray the very reason aviation is being so disrupted.

Hope you get back to normal soon.

Good Morning Hans,

What a wonderful sunset!
The colours seem to be radiating from the b/l/h corner, most unlike most sunsets which tend to be horizontal. The filigree silhouettes show up beautifully and your border complements the shot.

I thought that it might have been a display caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland. We were promised exciting sunsets over the U.K. but I'm afraid it did not happen in our area!

Have a good day,
Bev :-)

heeft nog niets met de vulkaan in ijsland te maken !

Nice sunset - great use of diagonals in this shot Hans! The black frame works well along with the black silhouettes..

Glad I haven't got any European flights at the moment :-) I seem to be running back and forward to India right now...

Good morning Hans,
What wonderful colors in the sky!
Wonderful sunset.

Beautiful sky colors and diagonal moving .
Regards Zoran

Hi Hans,
Hope your well, nicely captured sunset with a good silhouetted forground and nice colours, it sure is strange not seeing any aircraft or trails in the sky, maybe mother natures way of helping with the carbon footprint lol.
Best regards Andy

Certainly a spectacular sight ... and quite sobering how a natural event like a volcano can quickly cripple aspects of our world.

I just hope the weather intervenes quickly and dispels the dust.

Well composed, good silhouette against the fiery sky.

Hoi Hans,

Beautiful photo.
Excellent sharpness on the silhouettes.
Fantastic light and colors tones.

Warm greetings and best wishes,

Hallo Hans.
Erg mooie opname's van een spectaculair gebeuren hier in Europa. Dat gelukkig ook nog zijn mooie kanten heeft. Wacht met spanning op het einde want heb een vakantie in Amerika geboekt en die staat bijna voor de deur.
Groet Frans

other question; it seems that some "eole picks" are on your shoot - beetwen the church and thes trees? if it's wright please cann I use your shoot to shoe it at "anti eole picks" because I find the landscape is not "defigurate" by this.

sorry for my bad english....
