Wilted

Picturing full coloured daffodils is not a challenge any more, before I put the remains of what was once a beautiful bunch of yellow daffodils in to the dustbin, I decided to see how wilted daffodils would do as object.
The weather was this morning a bit clouded, 8/8 overcast, but the cloud layer wasn't very thick and while I was experimenting with wilted daffodils I came up the idea to put the decayed daffodil in front of the sun disk. In this backlight situation I took several shots, and I chose this one to post on TL.

PP work: slight adjustment of curves and contrast. Resized and sharpened using USM, add small frame.

Hello Hans,

Excellente nature morte, interprété par ce végétal flétri!!! on dirait presque du papier de soie.
Gentille composition, contraste et légère luminosité.
TFS et agréable semaine. Cordialement.
Yolande

Hi Hans,
A nice contre-jour capture of this decayed flower in such a bent posture.
Great details in the deteriorated petals of this once beautiful flower!
I like the original idea with such a play with light and PP work.
Well done,

Francis Xavier

Hello Hans,

I find this a most interesting experiment. (I like the idea of trying a new pov, a new time of life, with the daffodil.)
For me, it has worked well.
The backlighting has revealed the veins, the wilted shape, the flimsy textures - a bit like an x-ray, yet the composition, the arched flower and the limited colour palette, give their own beauty and artistry.

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Hans,

very effective experiment - it conveys such a powerful mood. It's actually quite depressing. Fantastic lighting, with nice tones and details captured. Great composition and presentation!
