The colored original just didn't have the impact what I was looking for so the photo rested in my archive for a while until I fiddled around with it and decided for a black and white conversion. The overall mid-tone gave it a good opportunity for the conversion.

I took this photo during a cold morning on the Lofoten while scouting for potential locations for a nice golden hour exposure. The small creek that found its way through the rocks into the ocean gave me something to play with and capture the motion of the water.

In the distance you can see the island called Vestvågøy. The biggest of the many island with a great diversity of mountains and agricultural landscape.

Love the mood you have captured in this scenic view, Niek!

Great details and well caught motion blur on the moving water against the snow-capped mountains in the BG.
The sharpness and low POV are excellent, and light is very well handled.
The choice of B/W very well here.
A well executed work!

Kind regards,

Hi Niek

A superb b&w landscape with impeccable sharpness and nice motion blur of the waves. Good tonal range & excellent repetition of the rocks throughout. Good reflections in the bg & the snowcapped peaks make a nice focal point on the horizon. Tfs!

Hi Niek.

A very interesting image, especially in grayscale. the long exposure giving the tell tale water texture always loooks a magical effect. The distant hills and active sky act as a perfect BG, well seen and presented in B/W. TFS

Hi Niek,
Your background mountains & large area of the dark moody sky
make a good balance to the larger vibrant foreground area. I like the soft milkyness you obtained with your 1 second exposure on the foreground water, may I ask which Lee Filter you used for this shot.I'm undecided whether or not,the background mountain range, should be as sharp as the foreground
or not?Either way,very well taken.TFS

Hi Niek,
Wonderful B&W tones in this beach scene. Good lighting and very beautiful place you've captured. Well done. TFS Julie

Wow! Beautiful capture and composition especially in B&W! I like the effect of the slow speed. Good dof with sharp details with nice contrast. Well done, tfs.

Hi Niek, a very good capture of this moody scene - and I like the BW version, it supports the mood. The BG with the Mountains and the cloudy sky enhance the picture.
Thanks for sharing - kind regards Monika

Ciao Niek, fascinating B&W, lovely island in BG, splendid light and wonderful clarity, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio

Hi Neik,
A great B&W. I like the tonal range covered from black, all the way to white. I think the portrait format works well here although I would like to see how it looked in landscape also.
a simple frame, adds to the image.

Another presentation of planet-elements by a great image the harmonies of ensemble and details are stunning well done
