Tenerife, Canary Islands

Teide National Park, in the centre of the island of Tenerife, shelters an outstanding flora that includes a large percentage of endemic species. And with an average altitude of over 2,000 metres it offers a spectacular example of vulcanism. The structure of the caldera and the Teide-Pico Viejo strato-volcano are a spectacular geological monument offering a wide variety of volcanic cones and domes, lava flows, tors and caves that form a range of colours.
The Teide-Pico Viejo stratovolcano reaches 3,718 m (12,198 ft) above sea level, and is the highest mountain in Spain and the highest mountain in any Atlantic island. Rising 7,500 m above the ocean floor, it is regarded as the world’s third-tallest volcanic structure.

Teide National Park was created in 1954 and covers an area of 18,990 hectares. It is surrounded by the Corona Forestal Nature Park, the largest protected natural area of the Canary Islands with 46,612.9 hectares. Teide National Park was declared as World Heritage Site in summer 2007.

I like volcanic landscapes, so TFS this one, Tsilla. I like the soft light here, and the contrast you've captured in the lava rocks. The trees stand out nicely, though I'd clone out the few branches in the top right corner - they just hang there, imo, without a connection to a tree. Well, that's just my feeling. I guess I find them a wee bit too small to be functional in the compo.
Anyway, TFS

Hi Tslla..this is a nice shot...great misty tones and mood..nicely composed.

Hello Tsilla,

A very unusual shot with excellent perspective, light and presentation.

I think the cropping of the twigs r/h corner would have avoided distractions.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Tsilla

Life always seems to find a way, and here we see evidence of that. At some stage this land would have been a hellish fury of hot rocks, ash and fire; and yet after the chaos, the first few trees have taken root.

There is a sense of calmness, coolness, and an ethereal quality to the light in this shot. Well taken - although I do have to ask, what were you doing up here???

Welcome on TL - a bit late I know....
Any questions about PhotoFiltre I will be most pleased to answer - I love it.
This looks fantastic, a great atmosphere here in the clouds, but one still can see in the distance. You must have loved walking around here...Can not point out a thing to improve here.
