I apologise if my shots are rather 'one track mind' at the moment! But you can probably guess that I was completely bowled over by the amazing work of Antoni Gaudi.
This was planned to be a market place! A small part of the Park Guell.
" Situated on the second level of the park, the hypostyle hall provides an imposing monumental backdrop that is more impressive the closer that you get.
Gaudi was influenced by the Doric columns of Classical Greece.
To be used as a market place for the inhabitants of the complex, the hall is made up of 86 columns made from rubble and mortar that hold up a large square above.
The roof is made up of semi-spherical vaults decorated with white trencadis work."
{Visual Guide To Antoni Gaudi.}

We were on a guided tour at the time so unfortunately we did not have as much time here as we really would have liked.
Thanks for looking.

Hi Jean.

I'm bowled over too with your string of posts regarding this place, Its such an intriguing place, full of mystic wonderments. The columnes are so over the top, dramatic angle used shows them at their best. I can see its one of those places you would need another few laps around again to take all this in. tfs

Hi Jean,
A pleasant geometrical composition with these fine columns. I like the worm's eye view. Nice lines and shapes. Very detailed ceiling with fine mosaic! Gaudi's work is always enjoyable to view and appreciate.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier
