[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My contribution to Helen's "Transportation Crop" theme for today.

This is a close-up of a front bogey and part of the nearside cylinder and driving gear of a working steam locomotive at the Bo'ness depot of the Scottish Railway Preservation Society. I have previously posted other views of this locomotive, "Morayshire", No. 246, on this site.

I quite liked the severely-cropped version of this picture. All comments/critiques welcome!

Hi John,
Good image for the theme, nice close crop, good sharpness and detail, I can almost smell the steam.
Regards Andy

I really like the color and sharpness of this picture but I think it could be even better if the bogey were a little more off-center.

This is a difficult piece to crop indeed! One wants the bogey off to one side, but is there anything to the left that is worth having in the image?
Great colours and details

Hi John! The green stands out in the thumbnail in this theme. I like the crop. Lovely colors and details.
Freddie :)

Greenest bogey I've ever seen.;-)
Seriously, I like this. Great sharpness and detail around the valve gear, and great colours.
Cheers, John.

Nicely done John, I enjoy looking ate steam engines so this really appeals to me.
Do you ever go to the annual steam fair at Balado Kinross?

Hi John, love those colours. Excellent PP work, fine detail and in my opinion the bogey is just enough off centre. TFS,

Hello John

Fantastic shot here, superb colours and a sharp image with lots of texture, just perfect for the theme.

TFS and for joining in the fun.

Kind regards Helen

Works really well John the striking colour of the wheel rim stands out well.

Great detail in the shot too.

Hello John,

This is a really great image.

Beautiful colours of rusty rails, lovely grease on all those working parts of machinery, and bright green paint on the wheel which you have echoed in the frame.

By bumping up the saturation even the ballast stones have taken on a colour which contrasts so well. The only thing missing is steam!

Great sharpness throughout.

Ladnie pokazane detale maszyny parowej. I to kolko przednie lokomotywy na szynie. Interesuja mnie detale mocowania szyn do podkladow. I ta ostrosc. Moze miales ulatwione zadanie robiac nieruchomy obiekt. Od dluzszego czasu probuje zrobic ten mechanizm napedu kol lokomotywy w ruchu. Zawsze mam na zdjeciu cos nie tak jakbym chcial.
Pozdrawiam Witek
