Image taken near my home, I have gone very 'heavy' with contrast in order to create a silhouette for the trees.

Nice B/W shot Stephen
Perhaps black bottom could be cropped a little bit more ?
Nice one !

Beautiful silhouette Stephen, I love your choice of black and white here, it's not the first thing you'd think of doing with this type of image, but it works really well, the light rays really stand out, excellent.

p.s edit to add, I've passed through Embsay many times when travelling to Harrogate 'over the top', it's a beautiful part of the country!

très belle photo et ambiance....sombre mais vraiment interessant!

i think "wow" is the only word i have for this, stephen. one of the few things in life that makes me happy beyond happy is when i can see the sun's rays shining down from the clouds. you've done a very nice job with the silhouette - i love the solid black on the bottom of the photo and the trees...it really accents the rays from the sun.

Vivre si proche de la "dark side of the earth" est une grande chance pour vous mister Wilkinson, merci de la partager avec nous ... ;-]

Très spéciale cette image N&B avec son ambiance dramatique! Bien vu et bien fait!
Bye, Jacques

Could use a little cropping, but it is an excellent capture of the rays advancing downward. Very well presented.

Great Picture
I Agree with the TheZubial for the bottom.

I love this, The silvery light feels like it is making the landscape, and the birds swirling in it make it complete for me. I disagree with both TheZubial and correp00, for I think that load of black there acentuates the feeling of light in the middle, the magic of life here in the middle kingdom! I must have reached my quote for adding points here. I have no faces to choose sorry...

i like the contrast in this pic. the silhouette of the trees has a very dramatic effect. i also find the fly birds an interesting aspect of the photo. of course the rays of light look great.

i do agree with some of the other comments. i think the bottom black area needs to be cropped back.

I really like the effect that you've created Stephen. The B&W suits the mood that you wanted to create, and the composition is great.
