A truly fine summer's day (which if you believe what you hear is pretty rare in the UK this year) in Kent. Sat at a rather fine pub in Deal on the waterfront (Kings Hotel I believe) looking across the English Channel towards France. This small sailing vessel taking on the vast blue space. Saturation increased, cropped and contrast increased.
I thought carefully about where to place the boat. I wanted the eye to appreciate where the vessel had come from to emphasise the space. I thought placement on the right would emphasise the journey ahead. Perhaps the white frame doesn't work. I thought it might accentuate the white horses on the surface of the sea on this fine breezy day.

tres beau monochrome bleu...
tres bien fait

Hi Mike,
This is an interesting presentation of different shades of blue colour. Well done, the ship fits to the composition very well. Well positioned subject and horizon, good job!

In my opinion, the vessel is well placed.
I like the feeling of vastness in this capture...
and the blue tones are pleasing to the eyes.

the placement of the boat is just perfect in your emphahis of the space, Mike.
so simple an image but attractive and nicely titled too.

Three colours for a great sea's panorama. Superb the lonely boat.

Your careful consideration is rewarded by a very pleasing result. So beautifully simple. I think the white frame works well.

Hi Mike,
Simple yet such a charming composition. The shades of blue are so cooling. The boat I think is well placed. Love the litle white waves too.

Hello, Mike!

Uma imagem ao mesmo tempo simples e rica!!
Os tons de azul do céu e mar estão fabulosos
e a posição do barco está perfeita! Não
poderia deixar de parabenizá-lo, também, pelo
título e pela sua nota... Congratulations and

Greetings from Brazil,

brilliantly done!
fine example of minimalism...the placement of the boat in the frame is just about perfect.
The amber fluid at the pub, coupled with a scene like this must have been a rather heady experience.
I envy you!
