Whilst out with a shooting party late November I took a picture of one of the gun dogs patiently waiting for his turn, the snow clouds were still heavy and later in the morning we got caught in a white out....natures way of protecting the pheasants....

PP Work - Tweaked shadow and highlight, increased contrast, added border, resized for TL, sharpened.

Hope you like it.

Vibrant image Bri,good details & sharp. I think it's his training & not that he is a good poser, that you were able to capture him with his look of intensity,I guess he was watching what his master was shooting, more than posing for the camera.Well taken.

Ron

Hi Brian...
Nice dog...
Nice scene...

Andrija

Hi Brian, looks like you still had a fair bit of sunshine before the clouds rolled in again. He has such an intense stare, I bet he never even blinked. A nice sharp shot in all. Fiona

Hello Brian,

A delightful shot which reveals the character of the dog by its alert stance.
It is well positioned in the frame and makes a good contrast with the surrounding snow.
The stick is an important element, helping to give a diagonal across the frame from the dog's head.

My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello BriaN

The look of the dog is awesome.
Very good POV and stick planted makes a very interesting concept of waiting.
I like also this dramatic sky.
Excellent lighting. Well done.
Best regards

Ciao Brian

Oh .. poor dog, waiting for your return patient owner!
His skin is very beautiful, this speckled in white,
combines with the white snow, would make a good camouflage!
Excellent presentation.
Lovely captured and good composition,

Best regards,

Hi Brian,
THIS IS WONDERFUL. What a pretty scene. Great control of your settings and such a perfect dog portrait. NICE, into my favorites it goes ! TFS and bringing a smile to my face. Julie

Hi Brian,

A nice shot from a dog in such a great atmosphere!
I like the vertical frame here, which provides many details within the picture.
The focus on the eyes of the dog, is amazing.
The cloudy sky brings mood here.

Well done!

Greetings,
Paras

I love the expression on his face, classic! Very nice capture with great pov and dof with sharp details. Very nice colors. Well done, tfs.

Hi Brian,
The lighting on the dogs face is to perfection showing the intense concentration or maybe waiting for the order.Dramatic sky cover with good depth and clarity throughout.Interesting and "friendly" image even though a cold scene, well taken.
erwin...

since I own a similar type dog i just love how you brought out his character.
wonderful treatment of the snow, clouds and the colours. Love it. Janos

Nice. Beautiful placement of dog in frame. Good control of exposure/ shadow/ highlights, keeping everything within limits but still delivering a strong dynamic.

Only suggestion I'd have - a lower POV. That would raise the dog's head and eyes above the horizon and eliminate their conflict. It would also give the dog slightly more significance within the shot, which, IMO, would be a good thing.

Wow Brian, lots of depth in it !
Super clear and great exposure. The light is beautiful.
The dog is really concentrated. I guess the dog is very faithful.
Tfs
Joop!

Wonderful image Brian. The colours in the dog match and contrast the snow and you have captured the drama in the sky.

Hi Bri,

I remember this from when you posted the series on FB. I like the intent gaze, yet patient posture of the dog. The dog is nicely positioned in the frame, and the details in the snow are well seen. A nice image, and the clouds add an interesting mood.

Best regards,
Werner

It was a very patient and determined patience! Lovely dog and atmosphere! regards from Belgrade
