Rievaulx Abbey

The ruins of Rievaulx Abbey glimpsed from 'The Terrace'
This was a misty evening in June 2005.
A few days earlier a huge thunderstorm had sent a wall of water down the valley, covering the fields completely.
The monks had wisely built the Abbey above flood level and it was not affected, although many nearby houses and bridges were damaged. |

That is GORGEOUS! Love the muted colors as it gives it an "old" feel! Super sharp, lots of nice details and your composition is extremely nice!

Hello Colin
This landscape is beautiful and timeless; you have created an atmosphere of fairy tale, a romantic painting :)
And about the flood level, the monks of the middle ages knew that Nature is stronger than human constructions...
Anyway, superb composition
Compliments!

Hi Colin,
Nice PoV for this shot of the Abbey, the colours are good and the sky superb, nice depth and mood to this shot with a lot of foreground detail and mist in the distance. Nice one. Best wishes
