Ruins of an Aqueduct in Caesarea Maritima

Caesarea Maritima was a city and harbor built by Herod the Great about 25–13 BC. Today, its ruins lie on the Mediterranean coast of Israel about halfway between the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa,

An adequate water supply has always been a central ingredient in the development of cities. Whenever possible during ancient times, the water systems were hidden or enclosed in the city walls since water was vital during a siege. However, the Pax Romana (Peace of Rome) allowed the building of aqueducts to supply water from outside the cities. This aqueduct used to have a second arch above the remaining arch. It was built by Herod the Great and spanned 13 miles.

Hi Tsilla,
Beautiful light passing from beneath these arches of the Auqueduct. There's one similar in Malta crossing nearly a quarter of our Island, built by the Knights of Malta built in the 14th Century.
Fine details and such warmth that makes this presentation pleasant to look at.
My best regards,

Francis Xavier

My last review of the day..)) time to go to bed.

Classic composition and perspective. Great texture, can almost feel the drynest and roughness of those ancient bloc of rocks. I find those almost colorless sky very suitable for this shot.
Works well for me. Good exposure, nice range of contrast, real smooth yet strong. Very exotic scene. Nice work friend.

Hi Tsilla,

This is simply an amazing catch with wonderful distribution of light on this bridge!
Great sharpness and perfect POV with a a "diagonal" approach.
The colors are natural and I don't see any OE which is not that easy to avoid in such shots but you did it very well.

Great work!

Best wishes,
Paras
