"Erzurum is the highest major city (population: 360,000 according to 2000 census) in Turkey, situated at an altitude of about 2000 metres over the sea level. Complemented with the distance to the sea, this makes the climate of this area the harshest in Turkey with the temperatures in long, heavily snowy, and bitterly cold winter regularly below -30°C at nights (and no warmer than -15°C during the day). Wet summers in Erzurum are around 30°C in the day time and is chilly at night time, although temperatures dropping down to freezing point during summer are becoming rarer and rarer each year, probably with the advance of the global warming.
The city hosted the international 2011 Winter Universiade (“university olympic games”)"

Hi Chris, it is almost black & white, it sure looks cold as the sun goes down it would be freezing already.. I would have cropped the left side to exclude the wall or shift to the left to get a wider view of the houses but not sure what the conditions were there when you took the photo.. I just prepared a quick w/s adjust the white balance.. cheers
Personally, I couldn't find anything of interest to look at in this scene. Sorry.

Hello Chris :)
Interesting scenery about dusk and contrast among the whiteness of the snow, and the dark wall of the citadel.
The enlightened which you can see in lots they add to the the whole of the pretty effect.
Ciao Chris, fashinating winter view of fantastic castle, very well done, my friend, ciao Silvio
At first glance I was not interested in the thumbnail, I read your note, took another look. Well then!!! let me say this is an image for study. The sharp blocks in the wall built by stonemasons many a century ago. The lights in the distance, and the snow which may indicate very harsh conditions. Your note makes this a very interesting image. Thanks for the look into History.
I like the winter mood in this shot, and the warm lights at far even, Chris!
Good sharpness and well caught contrasts within the image.
The white of snow is well captured too.
Good exposure and nice details in this scene.
