Took some shots of Jonas yesterday night.
Now you all know that Jonas is an orange cat. So how was I to create an Halloween cat for Freaky Friday.

So I copied the photo to 2 layers.
On the bottom layer, I played with different effects in Paint Shop Pro X2 and found the Glowing Edges effect in the Artistic section.

After playing with the Intensity ans sharpness, I settled for an Intensity of 1 and Sharpness of 16 and this is what I got.

On the top layer, erased everything but the eyes.

Black Cat Bone
A Black Cat Bone is a rare and expensive Hoodoo magic charm, usually sought so as to bring back a wayward lover.

From the Black Cat Bone weblog:
According to Catherine Yoronode, author of "Hoodoo In Theory and Practice", Hoodoo practitioners "believe every black cat has within its body one bone that will either grant the owner invisibility or can be used to bring back a lost lover. To secure this bone, they said, a black cat must be thrown alive into a cauldron of boiling water at midnight. The animal dies in agony, and the heartless practitioner boils the carcass until the meat falls off the bones. Some say that the special bone will be the top one left when the water boils away, others say it can only be found by placing each bone in turn beneath the tongue while an assistant stands by to notify the practitioner that he has become invisible, and still others swear that if all the bones are thrown into a stream that runs north (uncommon in most of North America), the desired bone will be one that floats on the water and heads south. Once found, the black cat bone is carried in a mojo bag and anointed with Van Van Oil to bring back a lost lover. The oil or fat of the cat is bottled for use as a candle dressing and for anointing gambler's charms."

Hi Pierre...sigh...i can't believe i'm doing this...giving a good critique to a cat shot... :-(

Firstly, congratulations! This is so far removed from the standard cat pet-snaps that are polluting TL these days...oh, that'll get some backs up :-) ...and it is a lovely piece of work, almost art-like. Superb pp work and this would make a great poster, I think. Lovely shot!

Hi Pierre,
You have obtained a very nice result from your PP work. It looks like a delicate painting on black velvelt. The eyes stand out like glowing lights.

Poor cats. I've seen what some people do to them :(

Bollocks Richard :). Excellent Pierre, very good PP work and fitting for the period leading up to Halloween. I did trial X2 for a couple of days but my 1.5GHZ almost had heart failure. TFS,
David

You know I love CATS!
Interesting perspective!
Excellent done!

Hey, bravo, Pierre!

:)

Hello Pierre, good effect here, looks great! I just had to add that about no bums in the last post! All the little goblins from the neighborhood will be at our door tonight for their Halloween treats! Hope to come up with a good photo. Nancy will be passing out the treats. :} Don
