A friend and I were setting in my kitchen on a cold wintry January 2006 as I began to play with my camera. Light emitting from a regular drop down ceiling lamp. Me attempting to hold the camera as still as possible. Out of the ten shots I took this image is the best. I really like this image it reminds me of the painting style of Rembrandt. Oh I just remembered the names of the paintings by Rembrandt it reminds me of, it is titled the Self Portrait and the Head of a Young Man or Self Portrait, 1629.

Hi Elton,
a nice self portrait. The light is interesting.
I think another crop and frame would work better. I made a ws... hope you don't mind

Fred

Yes indeed Elton.
There is something about this portrait of yours with ...with...the other guy (giggling)
One can only imagine what kind of digital cameras they could afford back then.
Once I compared myself to twelve apostles and a friendly priest from our parish beat me up with an altar candle.

Photo's great. It was worth trying. The most interesting element?
The look on your face. The eyes and mouth combination.
Two thumbs up.

Hi Elton,
I really like this, it does have a painting feel to it. seems to have a lot of emotion in the the eyes. great lighting effect. BTW you look like Liam Neeson in this picture.;D

Beautiful self-portrait! You are right to find a resemblance to painting style of Rembrandt. The light and the colors are same style. It seems y to have a questioning in your glance. Good work, Elton. Bravo! Annie

Very interesting self-portrait with a very interesting reddish/brownish light, Elton. You have quite an expression on your face maybe wondering what you were doing to yourself. Very nice tight crop and Fred's version works as well. Well done!

I like it alot. A good detailed self portrait.
Well done mate.

TFS.

Interesting result, with a clear face! Nice job!

I know you by name and it is nice to see your face. Very good self portrait even though a bit mysterious. Well done.

Very nice to meet you Elton ;)! Though, portraits are not my strength, I think this one is really good! The red tone looks wonderful.
Angela

Looks a bit like Liam Neeson in star wars! Great self portrait. I like the monotone.

Nice job man! Good color tone and nice border.

I enjoy the strong mood of that portrait! Comming surely from the combo of a strong close-up and dark atmosphere.
It's impressive! The red/orange tonal of the light increase the mood too!

Hello Elton
I don't see the man nor the fine portrait......but the artist's soul!
Best regards,
Robert
