12' Waves on Lake Superior will do this! I have to admit I took about 20 photos before I got a really good one, I missed the biggest ones from what I hear as I was asleep during the worse part of the storm. I love watching the waves and it was neat seeing them breaking over the bow of the ship. The water is so very powerful.

Cooooooooooool! Brings back memories of previous trips as a youngter. Would have been nice if you'd taken it from the bow though.... Ha ha ha

Kidding aside, most people cannot imagine the strenght of these waves. Some make the ship jerk and you can really feel them hitting

Hi Donna,
Action well captured, great point of view!!
The situation is well framed and the image has very good details, telling me you have a steady hand in spite of rough conditions!

hi Donna,
this is really special. One almost feels the fine spray of water!
Nice sharp colours.
Well done.
best regards, Daniel

cool photo, gotta love lake superior!

Felicitaciones Donna.

very impressive POV Donna :)
love the power in the photo
excellent work :)

Special photo Donna showing the power of nature. Well composed, good colour and light. Even though we are in Spring down here the last few days have been very stormy. A wave measuring device on the west coast recorded one wave at 19.5 metres. TFS,
Many thanks for your comment on

The hay was not left there after harvest Donna it has been placed there by the farmer as supplementary feed for his sheep.

Oh this is lovely Donna. Sharp above all and th important. I like to see the strong waves bombard the front of your boat. Goood POV. Bye bye

Hi Donna, Very well timed shot at the perfect moment. Good thing with digitals is the trial shots are without printing cost. It is good to see this photo from the bridge which most of us will never see, so thanks for sharing through your lens. Colours and clarity are excellent. Murray.

Great ..Super to see this. I love the waves splashing over, and Donna.. never forget to buckle up your safety line ok ?!

A moment of nature in rough mood has been captured beautifully in this picture. Very nice compostion of tidal wave with excellent timing. The point of view is also exciting.

Hi Donna,
What a shot! Everything about this one is perfect. The colours, the composition, and the POV. It brings to my mind Gorden Lightfoot's song. Vey well done.

Hello Donna !

I always loved rough weather at sea (^_^). Great catch of this breaking wave against the ship's bow. Although the choppy waters are not big enough to produce rolling and pitching here. A storm in the North Atlantic , with the propeller going completely out of the water while the ship is going going down in the waves, or the ship was rolling 25 to 35 Degrees each side rapidly. Wooo Hooo, That was fun ( and noisy !!!) and even scary at times . On one trip we even lost our deck load of lumber.......

Thanks for bringing me back the memories. (^_^)

Hi Donna,
Nicely captured moment here, good idea, well done. Thanks for sharing.José

I guess for most of us this photograph will never be a reality for us. THe scary thing is that the lake is not even that choppy. Heww.. nicely done and good way to depict the Captain's daily life.

Kinda scary too? Nice shot of the power of the water.

AWESOME SHOT ............... !
