GP3R Evening Race
|[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note|
|Friday the 13th - Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres|
Last weekend , I had the priviledge to go at the local Grand Prix and enjoy three days of racing. On Friday I went alone . On Saturday, I went with me older son Jonathan, and met our colleague Athila as we were challenging for the best POV (^_^). On Sunday I went with both of my sons ( Jonathan & Benoit) and EOSF1 . It was a blast sharing these moments with family and friends.
For the first time we had an evening race on Friday evening;
Race 1 was the Grand-American Continental Tire Challenge GS Class 2 hour race.
It was not only a challenge for the drivers but to the photographers too. The Street circuit has very limited street lights to help us.
Most of my shots were taken at the early stage of the race, i.e. at sunset. This one was taken at 19:19hrs. Here the No. 97 car of Joey Hand and Michael Marsal in turn 1. I have tried various panning shots through the fence ( this is why you see the post at the right ), even if the shot is not as sharp as I would like it, I like the mood and composition , showing the circuit and its obstacles. I hope you will like it too. BTW they finished 6th (^_^).
Technically: Camera handheld - Focal 300 mm

impresive shot. especially an action photograph during the night!
Great capture Robert considering the very difficult conditions - I think your framing helps bring out mood of the race.

not what one would call an easy challenge,night & speed.
I like the mood you captured & the feeling of motion,my only critique would be a different POV,one that would exclude that post that blocks off some of the main subject,I think if you had captured the full view of the racing car ,it would have given even more impact to this scene.
