Once upon a time, the first and tallest structure in downtown Montréal. View from the top, it let you see it's L shape, to imitate a cross. Hochelaga, the Ville-Marie, and at last Montréal got it's name. Montréal as Mont Réal, Mont Royal. The mountain still retain the name of Mont Royal (Mount Royal).

Place Ville-Marie was built at the beginning of the 50's, reaching 47 floors, about the same time then the CIBC tower, it is know that at this time, plans of the two different structures, were kept secret, and each other were spying on each other to make the tallest structure, first with his antenna, the CIBC tower became the tallest building in Canada, to only be surpassed by the Place Ville-Marie about one year later. It is said that they added a few more stores to surpasse the other one. It is law in Montreal, that no building can exceed the height of the Mount-Royal, that can be seen not far away.

Daylight, sunny day. with small clouds, middle of the afternoon.

Hi Denis,I like the natural colors you captured, both in the structures, as well as in the sky, espescially when taken in the middle of the afternoon on a sunny day.Clear & just the right amount of sharpness. They tell me one needs to know what they are doing, when using the spot metering, you obviously do,I still need to learn how. I also like how you included the silhouette's of the tree's branches to frame & give, Place Ville-Marie, that more impact. Thanks for sharing.
