I dropped my dolly in the dirt,
I asked my dolly if it hurt,
And all my dolly said to me was...
WHA, WHA, WHA!!!!

Those are the lyrics to a little song my brothers and I would play on the piano at our Grandparents' house. You play it all on the black keys, so it was very easy to learn.

I thought of this little song as I photographed this doll. This is the last of the three. I did nothing to this one except put a frame on it. It may not be as powerful as the other shots, but I wanted to preserve some of the reality - and she is still a little spooky to me:-)

amy,
we should keep the silence, for her sleep:-) good idea to photograph her, eyes shut.and I have nothing to say for your framework today,I liked it too:-)
regards

This is indeed really spooky, Amy, as my first reaction was the "doll" was dead! The position of the neck makes me think it is broken. The screen of my computer at work is not really bright so I am not certain if there is a bit of sharpness missing on the face of the doll (I will have to check when I get home). But overall, very powerfull & spooky picture with a very nice frame. Well done!

I agree with the spookiness of this image
Dolls always gave me the creeps when I was a kid
They still do!

Excellent job, this has been a really cool series Amy!!

I like how you made it!! Great idea and perfect frame!

Well done!

Tomasz

It reminds me of a book I read in junior high called "The Evil One" the first in a series in Phantom Valley at a school called Chilleen Academy. It is about a doll that is cursed to get the wisher whatever they want at whatever cost, even if it means hurting someone in the process.

Awesome angle and framing.

Hi Amy,
Nice shot. Even without pp this is one creepy looking doll. Uggh! The marks on her neck...looks like she's taking a nap alright...a "dirt nap." And just when you get near, she'll reach up and grab ya! ;P
Anyhow...very nice work. The shadows and the soft focus on her head really brings out the mood; silent and still.
Good work.
Richard

Josine

i too find this shot a little "spooky" :)
like a scene from a movie...like its going to suddenly come alive or open its eyes when you get closer...:P

powerful photo, i like the scary feel of it

Hello Amy,

Another good shot of this doll. The mood of this photograph is wonderfully creepy. These dolls along with ventriloquist dummies haave given me the creeps from childhood. Funny how those things stay with you. Great photograph Amy!

Hi Amy,
The pictuer is very good technically, but brings troubles to my head.
the doll is obveouslly not at her best here.
alone and seems neglected, make me fill up with sad thoughts.
also the worn out neck is not a good sign.
troublsom image performed with great technical care.
Friendly,
Udi.

Your note is really American, I think.
The idea to use the doll in this way for photography, is original.
I've seen some good compositions from you today, like this one too, nice done, Amy

as you will see my English is dreadful, it resembles my photographs a little, ;-)))
good evening Amy,
It is a joy for me which to know somebody of other, I am honoured bus very often the kind with photographs that I expose are rather difficult to include/understand. I chose this one because it sleeps and travels in its major dreams. Is photograph simple but presented with much taste, it a very beautiful work?
