I took this shot from the top of Mt. Tamalpais, looking southeast toward San Francisco. It was late afternoon and I liked how the light was highlighting the city structures. I struggled a bit with color adjustments in this one, trying to compensate for haze in the distance and the bright hillside in the foreground while not making the hills in the middle look unnatural. Compromised a bit and settled on this, since it is as close to realistic as I could get it.

PP: shot in RAW, boosted contrast and luminance a bit, tinkered with color adjustments, resized, sharpened, added border.

I forgot to mention: you can see the top of one of the Golden Gate Bridge towers if you look closely:)

Great compostion, an immediate eye-catcher.

Kind regards,

Hello Karen,

This is just stunning!
The diagonal composition, with the vibrantly coloured grass in the f/g, contrasting with subdued b/g is wonderful!

I just love it!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

We got a nice composition and DOF. The city looks magnificent framed by the hills and the bay.

My Regards

Hi Karen ..this is a great shot...the composition is right on and the colors and sharpness of the foreground are perfect.

Fantastic image, Karen. Magnificent landscape foreground, multi-hued, with the beautiful city skyline in back. You did very well with the colors. I haven't seen many big lanscape shots like this from you (I usually put my landscapes on TE); but I like it!

Great scenic picture

Hi Karen

A superb high vantage point, overlooking the city. Good color, sharpness & pov. I like the subtle aerial perspective, & receding tones. Tfs!

Hello Karen,
This is very well done, contrasting the rural and urban in this most effective way!
Strong diagonal composition with fine details, great sense of depth...

Wow its beautiful place and u have done a great job. very well taken. good attempt.

This is a magnificent image, the light on the fore ground is splendid, and the colorless background !!
It seems to me like it says: Life and beauty is here on the green and natural, and loosing its spark on the crowded cities.
